Question about 1989 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

Turn signals don't work on '89 taurus gl. Fuse is good, flasher is new. I tried a different turn switch on the column but still nothing. Wiper, washer and highbeams work on the switch just not the trun signals. 4 way flashers do work too.

Still sounds like the multi-function switch on the column. If you have old one, take apart and look for discolored coating on copper strips. clean with emery cloth and add di-electric grease.

1988 ford Taurus turn signals not working. Help? The hazard signals work. Replaced switch on column and flasher. Still no turn signals? WTF?

There are two flashers, one for the four ways and one for the turn signals. If I remember right the turn signal one is on the backside of the interior fuse box.

Both blinkers don't work but flashers do

There should be a flasher unit on the fuse box under the dash for the turn signals and another behind the dimmer switch for the hazards.
Sometimes one of the flashers is behind the fuse box in the glove compartment if equipped.
Don't be surprised if the flasher is not the problem. Most of the time the problem is the multi-function switch on the column.
There are stories online about using WD40 to take care of the switch problem.

My turn signals dont work how do i repair it

Start by checking the fuse under the dash panel. And make sure your bulbs are good. If nothing happens at all when you use the turn signal switch, it is possible you have a bad flasher relay located under the dash, the little cylindrical unit that causes turn signals to blink, and makes the clicking sound when signals are blinking. Used to be very cheap, but the newer units are a little more pricey, more sophisticated. If a new flasher doesn't fix it, then you may have a bad turn signal switch on the steering column.
The circuit for the turns goes from the fuse, up to the turn switch, back out to the flasher, and then to the turn signal bulbs.
Good luck.

My turn signals stopped working and my hazard light don't work either. I had problems for a while now they just stopped working? help

its your flasher. for either switch you must disassemble the steering column. The signal flasher switch is the first switch you will encounter. The hazard switch is a little farther down the column.Iif your looking to replace the flasher unit . There are 2,one for the signals & one for the hazards. Look under the dash, near the fuse block, they are normally small round cylindrical units that plug in with either 2 or 3 spade terminals. The signal flasher is usually plugged into the fuse block, the hazard flasher is usually near by with just wires plugged into it.be aware that if your going into the steering column you will need special tools

2004 monte carlo. Turn signals dont work. The stalk still works with other functions, such as wiper, brights. The fuse is fine. Could it be a bad relay? When u push the stalk up or down nothing happens on...

try pressing the hazards on and off if they still don,t work replace the flasher unit. it is built into the hazard switch( all one unit ) change this and all will be good.

Turn signals won't come on.

I would have to say that it is your turn signal switch in the column. You will have to take the steering column apart and replace it.

Right Turn Signal sitll not working eventhough I replaced the flasher

are you sure the bulb is good? have you had the steering column out recently? if so make sure the plug going into your switch isnt being pulled as it will cause a bad connection. but it sounds like you need a new turn signal switch

1988 Ford Taurus Turn Signals do not work

Yes, it certainly could be the switches in the windshield wiper stalk off of the steering column.
From day one, my (used 14K) 93 Taurus turn signals worked in some positions of the wiper speed and not in other positions of the wiper speed. Fortunately, they always work when the windshield wipers are off.
