What does TCS mean - 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe

Toba, Transmission control switch(tcs sw) or Traction control switch. it's telling you there is a problem in transmission that needs diagnosed.

It means that you have pushed the button to turn the TCS (Traction Control System) off. Push the button once more, and the TCS will again be available.

Depends on where it is used - - could be traction control system.

TCS is the traction control system the light is the fault presnet indicator. You must have the dealer scan the system for fault codes to see what is causing this light to stay on.

Either you have a problem with the TCS (Traction Control System), or the TCS is switched off. Most cars with TCS have a button on the shift or the dash labeled "TCS" or "TCS OFF". Find the button, and press it with the car running in gear. If the light goes out, problem solved.
If you cannot manually disengage TCS (no button), or when you press the TCS button the light flashes, check all your brakes and make sure none are dragging or worn out. Also make sure all your tires are properly inflated and balanced, and none are worn out.
TCS works by controlling your brakes on slippery roads and will dynamically apply the brakes to each wheel in order to prevent a skid, even when your foot is not on the brake pedal. During normal driving, the TCS light is out and will either come on briefly or flash when it is active and preventing your car from going into a skid. When the light is on constantly, the system is disabled- either because it was shut off by the driver pressing the TCS (or TCS OFF) button, or because the system has detected a brake problem and automatically disabled it for safety reasons. Worn or dragging brakes, a tire that is flat or worn, or even a wheel that is badly out of balance will cause the system to disable itself, and a severe wheel alignment problem will also.

TCS = Traction Control System

The TCS light is on because the check engine light is on this is common repair the check engine light failure abd the tcs will go back to normal.

You need to check the code to see if it is a trans code and then if it falls under the bulletin limits Honda will replace the trans under warranty. Even if you are out of warranty Honda will sometimes do a partial warranty. Here's a copy of the Bulletin.

There are several things that will turn the check engine light and tcs light on .if you get the code I can tell you exactly what the problem is . on your year i see transmission problems as well as egr problems. if you go to any large auto parts store they will check the code for free or a very small fee.

Traction Control System or TCS is just a feature and a relatively new one at that considering the length of time cars have been around. Whether or not you use it is entirely up to you. If you feel confident enough in your ability to drive without it and find it easier/safer to then by all means disable it. After all people have survived without it for near 100 years.

some markets have a button on the dash with tcs/abs and a dash light saying "tcs off".if your car has not got the button then you cant turn it off(germany yes.uk no)abs/tcs should only be turned off in deep snow,otherwise best left alone,unless you have been taught how to drive with/without.....(on ice you wants the wheels to turn,on snow you want the snow to wedge to slow you down......)see what i mean???
