Take it to Autozone and get them to read the code. If it is a minor problem (i.e., needs new gas cap) fix it and I would disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and reset the check engine light. It should go off. If it is a serious problem it will come back on. If not it will stay off.

Before you do this get the radio code as disconnecting the battery will disable your radio and you will have to enter a code. It should have come with the car, If not call the dealer and he should be able to give it to you.

Good luck.

Tcs light comes on after about 5 miles. Tranny was rebullt 10k miles ago. 2001 honda oddysey. Van has 139k miles on it

TCS is Traction Control. There should be a speed sensor at the drive wheels. If they are not reading properly, this will cause the light to come on.

Engine light came on "TCS" Honda Odyssey. What does this mean? Is this a Transmission Control issue?

It is typical of the Odyssey to get carbon build up in the intake.I would think its doubtful it involves the transmission if u have not noticed anything. The brakes can cause the TCS light to come on, as well as many other things. try checking your slave cylinders on your brakes as this could cause the TCS light to come up.

TCS light comes on

the tcs is ur traction control system this reads the wheels and if one slips cuts down power to engine so as not to damage engine or trans also if awd will activate the other wheels for traction the sensors are usually part of the abs[anti-lock brakes] check connections and wires as well as the sensors at the wheels and transmission -since the light is intermittent which would indicate a short or a sensor is about to fail the vehicle will store the code as pending -have vehicle scanned some auto stores do this for free such as auto zone/ advanced auto check ur local area the code will tell u where the problem is coming from

I have a 20001 Odyssey with 70,000. The check engine light and TCS light both came on. The TCS light has since gone out but the check engine remains. I went to an auto parts store and their computer came...

unfortunately it is. Contact your local dealership to see if it may still be covered under a warranty or not.

Customer Concern: The check engine light is on with the trouble code P0740 present. Tests/Procedures: 1. Test drive the vehicle and watch the tachometer. See if the automatic transmission locks up. If unable to see the RPM change, and the Engine Control Module (ECM) is turning on the lockup solenoids, then the problem has to be internal to the transmission. The transmission has an extended warranty from Honda for 7 years or 100,000 miles. Potential Causes: Automatic Transmission
Lock-Up Solenoid
Torque Converter
Tech Tips: TSB #02-062 Diagnostic Codes: P0740

TCS LIGHT AND FEELS LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM

No it's the Tork Converter lockup Switch and if the fluid is not burned the tork converter may be going out, sometimes they do not replace the tork converter when rebuilding the transmissions, sometimes you save $200.00 sometimes you lose it. Check fluid level and see if it's brown if it is and smells like onions have the transmission oil and filter changed and have them flow test the transmission oil cooler. If it is plugged it could cause this as well.

2002 Honda Odyssey TCS light comes on after driving approx 1 mile

There are several things that will turn the check engine light and TCS light on .If you get the code I can tell you exactly what the problem is . On your year i see transmission problems as well as EGR problems. If you go to any large auto parts store they will check the code for free or a very small fee.
