Question about 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager

1 Answer

Starts then shuts off

1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager starts then shuts right back off before I can put it in reverse. If I continue to try to start it, after 3 times it will not even turn over. I have to take the battery cables off and let it sit for about an hour and then it will start. Could this be a problem with alternator or the starter?

If you give it some gas pedal while you start it, will that help it. there is a thing call an idle control solenoid. this allow a little air in to the engine while sitting with no throttle.

1998 grand voyager, sometimes dash works sometimes it doesn't. what can cause this ?

Could be the connector at the back of the instrument panel, or a bad connection in the wiring harness. Could also be a weak ignition switch.

My plymouth grand voyager start only in neutral how come

the neutral safety switch is bad or out of adjustment. how to fix.--- open hood, look to the right on tranny, you will see what looks like a boot. with wires on it. pull it off and spray it with wd-40 or silicone spray--- and just put it back on, thats it. if sensor is loose you may be able to put a clamp on it to hold in place. good-luck and happy holidays !!

My 1998 Grand Voyager has had a problem ever since I left my lights on, and had AAA come jump me off. I believe the problem only happens, when the engine is cold. When I try to start it, at first, it turns...

Sounds like the ignition switched circuits are not always powering up.
I suspect the ignition switch itself, however, it could be relays in the system.
I would start by measuring the voltage drop across the ignition switch, if more than 10% anywhere I would replace the igintion switch (under dash).

1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.0 Liter engine. $

Hate to say it but not very likely. Mine cost me $1500 for a rebuilt. Doesn't hurt to check a few local shops that deal with transmissions.

1998 plymouth grand voyager will not turn over when it is raining or snowing. When it's dry out it starts right up.

replace the starter relay located in the engine compartment fuse box near the battery.... if there is no diagram to tell you which one let me know... often it's on the inside of the lid.

Please take a moment to rate this solution thanks
