Dirty connection on a main fuse or a possibly even a simple thing like a high resistance on a battery terminal caused by corrosion ,the alternator is charging but when the battery connection plays up then the alternator can only produce a certain amount of power ,use a bit more and it stops like you describe ,start by cleaning the battery terminals with a bit of emery paper and greasing them then refitting the terminals
It sound like a dead battery or lose electical connection, try cleaning your battery terminals and post. If you have a volt meter check battery it should test 12v not running and when running it should show 13-14 volts while charging. If the volts check out good check positive lead to starter.
it seems that your battery is not charging..either you need a replacement or it is a faulty alternator which is not charging the battery.First thing I would suggest is to check if the alternator is producing power by a voltmeter.
