Make sure your gear shift is fully in park position. Move the shifter in and out of park and try to start. if that is not the problem then you need a starter.
I would look at 2 different areas. One is to make sure that the battery is in good condition. It may hold enough charge for lights and radio but may not be enough to work the started. You may need a load tester for that. If that was ok I would check the starter itself. Hope this helps.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to check the brake switch. Your brake pedal contacts the brake switch when it is pressed down. There is a small button on the brake switch that activates the lights. It may be stuck or broke. Try to loosen the button first. If it won't, buy another one. They only cost a few dollars.

With headlights on, try to start the car.
While engaging the starter: Do the lights dim? Do you hear anything? If so, what do you hear?
