1988 trooper starts runs fine till warms up shut off starts back acts like its not get gas

which engine?
we can NOT GUESS engines, ever.
get a tuneup this decade?
that be first. (spark part filters if engine is gas engine)

1988, very few of those on the road
we have one parked in a field here.
carb dead, no parts to fix it. no willing persons to fix it.
1988 had (usa) a 2.2L Diesel
and a gas 2.6L I4
the 2.6L needs a new cam belt at 60k miles
ignoring that?
and all those old spark parts, and filters.
most cars this old are zero service.
and fail to run.

new cap /rotor,wireset, spark plugs, filters and and cam belt.
and it might run,. now.
do the book published 60k service points, if ignored.

there are 50 other causes of stalling besides
neglect.

2003 suzuki aerio won't start. No check engen lite as before. Charged battery changed relays. Check engen light was on car ran.car died tonight did the same thing and no check engen light

wont crank or cranks fast but will not start???????????????????
what engine is there, we cant guess them , ever. gas or diesel?
the CEL must glow key on then go out running, that is normal.
you need to stop thinking the CEL is magic nor the ECU behind it
a $100000 artificial intelligent entity.
IT'S NOT. (but the scan tool is very good to use now, if it dont start)
  1. ever get a tune up this decade??????? like spark parts an filtes, no? and timing belt ignored?
  2. fuses good.?
  3. spark good on all cylinders?
  4. starts with test fuel.? yes ,no.?
  5. yes, then fuel loss or flooding is it flooding?
  6. no, spark is bad or engine bad, since spark is ok, then engine and if engine is bad, then the timing belt slipped, due to #1
no engine stated so cant really wax too smart, can I.

dah line up...
engines.
1.3 L I4; 1.5 L I4; 1.6 L I4; 1.8 L I4; 2.0 L I4; 2.3 L I4; 1.4 L Diesel I4

got one of those?/?????????????????????????????

in USA the 2.0L is king but you never said country,.... so......
the J20 is cam chain drive, good for 250k miles, fresh oil all the time.

now guess 2,???????????????????????
battery goes dead , engine will not crank.
dash lamps dim, or dead, head lights dim or dead.
so that is called NO CRANK
or my starter is silent or its , just clicks
that is a DEAD battery, left head lights on, charge it now. fix phantom drains.
or cables rusty
or alternator(or related) dead. (car will stall driven after battery charged)
or battery is bad.

1997 Volkswagen Golf rough idling when in park after having car serviced

Sounds frustrating, and given the extent of the work done it could be almost anything. It could be something simple, like a bad spark plug, or something major like an incorrectly aligned timing belt. It sounds to me like a vacuum leak somewhere. I would call the shop back and be sure they spend some time trying to track down the problem. If they claim it wasn't their fault, get a second opinion.

firstly,do the miner service @ if it doesnt work ,check for the spark on each spark plug i,e are the hytension leads sparking? are the plugs still ok,are plugs not having oil? If all doesnt work then check for the valves

Set timing on a 1992 honda prelude, 2.3 engine, I REPLACED THE DISTRIBUTER AND NOW ITS COMPLETELY OUT OF TIME, detailed instructions please

  1. Locate the service check connector and, if applicable, remove the cap. On 1988-91 Preludes, the cap is yellow and the connector is located next to the vacuum control box in the engine compartment. On 1992-95 Preludes, the service connector is located under the middle of the dash. On 1990-93 Accords, the connector is blue and is located behind the right front kick panel, under the dashboard. On 1994-95 Accords, the service connector is located behind the glove box. Use a jumper wire to connect the two terminals of the service connector.
  1. Following the manufacturers instructions, connect a timing light to the engine. The positive and negative leads connect to their corresponding battery terminals and the spark plug lead to No. 1 spark plug wire.
  2. Make sure that all wires are clear of the cooling fan and hot exhaust manifolds.
  3. Set the parking brake and block the front wheels. Start the engine. Check that the idle speed is set to specifications.
  4. Point the timing light at the timing marks. On all models except 1994-95 Accords, the marks are on the flywheel. On the 1994-95 Accords, the timing marks are on the crankshaft pulley. When the engine is idling, the red mark must align with the pointer. Some timing marks are indicated by 3 lines; the center one must be aligned with the pointer.

  1. If necessary to adjust the timing, loosen the distributor hold-down bolt(s) and/or nut and slowly rotate the distributor in the required direction while observing the timing marks.
  2. To complete the adjustment operation, tighten the hold-down bolt, taking care not to disturb the adjustment.
  3. Switch the engine OFF . Reinstall the rubber plug in the timing window and remove the timing light. Remove the jumper wire.
