Question about 2001 Ford Taurus

Radiator cooling fan fuse location for Ford Taurus

Where is the fuse located for the radiator fans on a Ford Taurus 2001 SES 3.0L OHV? The owners manual doesn't specify other than relay location. Shop manual eludes to them but doesn't give a specific location. The fuse cover box doesn't specify either unless I'm looking by the wrong name. I'm assuming if both fans don't work, it's the fuse or do they share the dame relay, also?

IT IS NOT FUSED, IT HAS A CONTROLLER CALLED A CCRM (CONSTANT CONTROL RELAY MODULE), THIS MODULE HAS SELF TEST ABILITIES HAVE THE FORD DEALER TEST THE MODULE.

The cooling fan on a ford car usually does not have a fuse. The cooling fans are controlled by a relay in the power distribution box inside the engine compartment. The box is usually located near the battery. Your owners manual should have a guide showing you what each relay in the box is for.

what if the relays all check out?

  • Jesse Harmon Apr 03, 2011

Then I'd say your temperature sensor fir the fans may be bad or the fan itself is bad. Most fords have two temperature sensors, obe for the gauge or light on the dash and one for the fans.

I have a 2001 ford focus 2.0l DOHC engine with A/C which fan is the engine cooling fan and which is the A/C cooling fan?

I have the same type of ford focus. The engine cooling fan is located next to the radiator. There are two engine cooling fans and they are controlled by an engine temperature switch located on the engine under your alternator by the firewall. The a/c cooling fan is located on the firewall under the hood. It blows air through your a/c core (this core is called an evaporator, it looks like a minature radiator.) and as the freon goes through the evaporator, the air from the a/c blower pushes cold air in to your car through your vents.

Yes a sensor will cause this also just a fuse replacement can correct this for you.. follow the hose from the radiator cap to the block, some are located there, also some built in to the radiator itself.. lower day tank on the bottom of the radiator.usually two wires + and -

2000 Ford Taurus, V6, auto trans, new thermostat installed, still over heating, not sure if cooling fans are starting. Checked all fuses. Any ideas?

first i would check the cooling fan relays, when the temp gauge gets anywhere between over half and overheating you should hear the relays switch(it will make a clicking sound). but do not let the car overheat! Secondly the fans are controlled by the cooling fan temp switch/sender, this is located on the radiator, and you should check to see if the fan is getting power by using a volt-meter to check for the proper 12 volts. Finally if they still do not kick on you will need to replace the cooling fan motor(s).

95 taurus, fan not turning on (radiator)(main fuse ok)

It sounds like a fan relay switch which is usually located at the bottom of the radiator.

How do i check the radiator fan and the relays that control it

Your Taurus has a electronic cooling/AC fan control module located under the upper radiator support panel, drivers side. It is not servicable. It interacts with the ECM too. When it fails, it must be replaced.

Overheating/fan not running

If the cooling fans do come on, replace the radiator. It has probably plugged with deposits from coolant that has not been changed every 2 years as recommended. Radiators.com has real good (low) prices and excellent quality all metal radiators--do not get 'plastic tank' unit.

IF the fans are not turning on, it is either the temperature sensor for the cooling fans, the relay, the fuse, or the fan motor-or a loose connection in those circuits.

Overheating

Relays for fan are located under the hood drivers side. If your fans are not kicking on it might be the coolant sensor not working right.

My radiator fans stopped workin it mite be the fuses but I don't have the owners book so I don't know wich one it is. If somebody can tell me the number it would be appreciated thank you.

the cooling fans are protected by fuses and relays. Usually there is a low speed and high speed setting or 2 fans with one on or both on depending on engine temp.

The engine computer controls the fan by reading the ECT, engine coolant temperature sensor. It then sends the signal to run the fans.

Also, whenever the a/c is on, the cooling fans operate.

Check your owner manual for location of fuse panels (2) and which fuses or relays to check.

Does fan come on when you turn a/c on?

1998 ford mustang radiator cooing fan wont come on

Check the fluid level in the radiator - after it cools down !

It sounds like you should replace the temperature sensor that controls the fan. This is usually located in the radiator and has electrical wires connected to it. Trace the wires from the radiator fan ( not the air conditioner fan!) to the sensor.

If the radiator is aluminum you may need special anti-freeze to prevent damage.
