Question about 1987 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup
When door is open lwr ctsy lites for each cockpit station lite just fine but dome and rear hatch lite remain off. when door is closed lwr cockpit ctsy lites dim and dome and rear hatch lites come on dim. when h/l inst panel rheostat is turned to ctsy lite ''on'' position only lwr cockpit lites lite (full briteness). pertinent info : developed problem after washing s-10. alarm system installed professionally 2 days prior. lh door pin switch was cleaned as corrosion kept it from functioning correctly and has 2 wires connected..rh door pin sw functions ok (but has only 1 wire attached though there are 2 spots for wires.....
Try removing one bulb or the other at one time preventing power completing the circuit if the problem in a light. Those ones are tuff to find but second place I would start is removing front door cils and cleaning out and playing with wires in there to see if you can find a problem, also wires in the boot between door and frame, usually drivers side cause it's used more often.

SOURCE: 2003 denali trailer wiring
If your signals & brakes are on 2 different circuits, ( for example a red lens for stop & an Amber for turn.) then you'll need to buy a converter that goes between vehicle & trailer. They're not too expensive at any trailer or RV place. I think some of the autoparts stores stock them now too.

LH/RH lights cable could be disconnected anywhere, will take a long time to trace.
Center Brake Light and LH & RH should be connected at one point.
Jump a cable from Center Brake Light to one of Rear Break Light.
Hope this will works.

Give this a try------get a piece of wire and strip both ends, the black wire coming out of the plug on the head light, stick one end of the wire in there and the other end to a good ground or the negative battery terminal with the lights on, if the light gets brighter, there is a bad ground to that light. I hope this helps, cause you have just done about everything else.
