SOURCE: abs sensor
No, the pulsing is caused by warped rotors. Look at the inside part of each wheel to see if you're loosing brake fluid. If everything is dry, try bleeding the brakes and check you brake fluid level. If it still does it, remove the vacuum hose from the engine that goes to the brake booster and plug it. The pedal should be very solid. If it bleeds off still, replace the brake booster.

you have an ABS code in the ABS computer. You most likely damaged an ABS sensor. even after myouo fix this you will need to get the code cleared
NOTE: autozone wont be able to access the ABS computer.
SOURCE: hi i'm freddy and i have a problen with my gmc
hi it could be any one of those you have mensioned but i would suggest the most likely cause would be that the brake pads have completley worn down and are just working metal on metal so you need to get the pads changed sooner rather than later.
Also the brakes being gone would also cause the light to come on as the abs wouldnt function properly with the pads worn off.
The first thing i would do is get the brakes checked as you wil probably find this is the cause of your problem as you say the pedal is hard to press this would suggest that the pads do need changing if it is the brakes then this is the cheapest of all the options you mentioned above.
So please get the brakes checked as at the moment it might just be that the pads need replacing but driving around to long will cause you to put grooves into the disks themselves and these are expensive to replace so get it check soon as you can.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Try replacing the brake hose they have a tendancy to collapse on the inside over time due to age and will cause brake drag.

dnewell53: Not sure if you got this fixed yet or not just ran acrossed your posting. There is a recall for the wheel speed sensors on the 2001 GMC Yukon. You should contact your dealer so they can check to see if it has been performed. This is for what they are calling the salt states. Not sure where you are located. I had this happen to me a few years ago with a Ford conversion van and just had the wheel sensors replaced and the problem went away. You may want to do a search for recalls pertaining to your vehicle. My GMC Yukon is in the shop right now for some kind of mod to do with the fuel sensor.
