Question about 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix
Down by your left knee on the lower part of the dash is a switch to start out in second gear in snow or icy conditions, lowers the torque to reduce spinning. just flip the switch. you probably hit it with your knee, I did!!! chibasset

Your car has a 2nd gear start switch. If the switch is on you car will always start out in 2nd gear. The 2nd gear start switch is used only for slippery weather. It is located at the lower driver side of the car. Just turn the switch to off. I have the same option on my car. Hope this helps you.
