Question about 1987 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

No electical power on 98 Bonneville

This morning I started the car to go to work. It cranked over and started just fine. It ran for just a couple of seconds then died. Now it has no power at all. No dome lights, no open door chime, the remote keyless wont even unlock the trunk or lock the doors. Alternator and battery are just over a year old.

Sounds like bad battery contact or ground. Take them off and clean with sand paper.

I have a 2000 pontiac Bonneville sle and it was running fine it stalled yesterday on me n after a bit started back up and ran fine the rest of the night, This morning It started fine and then 15 mins...

I had the same problem with my 2000 Bonneville SLE and I replaced the crank shaft sensor and it solved the problem. The crank shaft sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer. You have to take the balancer off to get to the part. You will need a puller to get it off. You will also have to take the fly wheel cover off and hold the fly wheel when you remove the nut from the front of balancer.

I have a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SSE.. won't start

It sounds like you have a short somewhere that is draining the battery...this type of thing is usually caused by a faulty voltage regulator. I recommend taking the alternator to an autoparts store to have it tested...don't be surprised if the alternator tests good; a faulty voltage regulator can and will drain a battery in a matter of hours. I am including a link where you can order a voltage regulator for your Bonneville or, while you are at the autoparts store, you can buy one there. The link will help you to see what the voltage regulator looks like so you can identify it in your engine compartment. Hope this helps, good luck!

1995 Bonneville

the problem is probably one of the battery cables. check for looseness and corrosion. especially at the positive battery connection where the two cables are stacked.
