Any work done recently? Did you buy gas just before this started happening? Fuel filter ever replaced? Fuel pump? Both clogged fuel filter and weak fuel pump will exhibit this kind of behavior, but you could also have gotten some bad gas. There are other possibilities, but what you described points more to a fuel supply or fuel quality problem, which is most commonly one of those three things.

Won`t start after sitting some time

Assuming the battery voltage is good, i.e. a 12v battery should be at least 12.5 -13v when not running.
Spray a little 'start pilot' into the air intake manifold, not a lot, just a little spray every few seconds until it fires up.

I have a 98 z24 cavalier auto with the 2.4 I can get it to start then I stalls out a couple seconds later I have done the passlock bypass the guy I got it from took the battery out a it was running great...

Unhook your battery again for about 15 minutes. After you re hook it up, let car sit with the key in the on position, but not running. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, and then turn key off, and start it. It may run rough for a few minutes as the sensors and systems are all resetting. If you try running it right away, or cold, it can confuse the regen process

Can you jumper the fuel pump and make it start and continue to run ?
Have you checked to see if you are getting spark when it won't start ?
Could be a relay or coil, ignition module, or other component.

I have a problem with my 2004 impala 3.8 V6 I will drive down the road and it will randomly die and won't start back up. It will turn over and everything but won't start. But if you let it

Possibly a crankshaft position sensor had the same problem with one of my former vehicles. Be careful buying a new one though it is an electronic part and it is not returnable at most part stores. That is what it sounds like to me though.

Why won't my 98 tahoe start after it was sitting for a year? i bought a new battery so that is not it.

Did you put stablizer in the gas before storing it? Does the fuel pump run for 2 seconds when the ign is turned ? Have you checked the air cleaner for debris? Do you have spark? You must have air/fuel/spark to start.

98 Audi Quattro keys don't srping back after starting the engine

You have a bad Ignition Switch they are known to go out on the 90's audi's.

The part is pretty inexpensive but the labor maybe quite high.

When you start it make sure the key gets back to the proper position otherwise you will burn up your starter and cause another expensive problem.
