Question about 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

1 Answer

Blower on my 2004 Chev Colorado only works on high setting #4.

My 2004 Chevy Colorado fan switch only works on high, setting 4. This is for the a/c, heat, defroster etc etc. Is there a way to check the blower fan resistor first or just a new one. Also how do I access the blower fan to replace the resistor and what does it look like.

Thanks,

Bill

You need a resistor pack, which is likely located in the air box, near the blower motor.

2004 Chevy Suburban HVAC Blower does not work on high. Is there a separate fuse for the high circuit?

No. One fuses controls it all. If the fan only blows at certain speeds but no all speed settings, then either the blower motor or the switch is the problem.

I have a chevy colorado truck and the air is cold when it works and it would only work if it was turned up on 4 1-3 didnt work and now it want come on in 4 what could my problem be

I have a 2004 Colorado since it was new. There was a recal for the blower motor problem. I think it was for a defective connector to the blower resistor assembly. There is also a recall for a bad brake light switch. I would take your truck to the dealer and get this recall work done.

Locate resistor switch 2004 chevy colorado

On my 2004, there was a recal for a defective harness. You might want to see if there was a recal for the 2005. The resistor is located on the passenger side below the and behind the dash mounted to the air duct.

sounds like the blower motor resistor is bad,thats what controls the speeds. replace that and your fan should work just fine, good luck.

I have a 2004 Chev Colorado fan only works on #4 speed.

The fan speeds are usually 99% corrected by changing the fan resister board....usually near the fan motor under the dash in front of the pass seat.Cost .......around 30$ for the board.You can do it.
Follow the wires from the fan motor to the board connector.

I have a chevy colorado. only the high spped fan works. there are no indicated fuses for the fan system what can the problem be

TRY THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR FIRST. POWER GOES THROUGH THE BLOWER THEN TO THE RESISTOR AND THEN THE CONTROL MODULE TO GROUND.

THE RESISTOR IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE HEATER CASE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. USING A TEST LIGHT ATTACHED TO GROUND TOUCH EACH OF THE TERMINALS ONE AT A TIME WHILE SWITCHING THE POSITIONS ON THE BLOWER CONTROL. IF THAT WORKS YOU WILL HAVE A LIGHT FOR EACH WIRE IN EACH POSITION ON THE DIAL. THE RESISTOR IS THE PROBLEM THEN.

RESISTOR WIRE COLORS
LOW = YELLOW
2 = TAN
3 = LIGHT BLUE
HIGH = ORANGE

Blower only works on 4,123 not working.

Hi There;
You say your heater fan only works on high.

This issue can be repaired by replacing what is called the "blower motor resistor". The electrical current flows through this unit in all positions except #4.
If you look under the dash on the passenger side with the heater fan on #4 you will hear the blower motor running. Just slightly toward the drivers side of the blower motor & closer to the firewall you will see a four wire connector. this is attached to the "blower motor resistor". If you get a replacement one & examine it you will see two screw holes where you will need to remove the 9/32nds screws from the one in your truck to remove the fauly one & install your new on. This part is relitivly inexpensive & it is not worth trying to locate a used one.
Please let me know if you need more info on this

A-c switch on my 2005 colorado only works on high speed

I had the same problem on my 2005 Colorado. I changed the blower resistor but still had the same problem. I had no voltage at the blower except on high. After talking with the local Chevy dealer, I found the plug-in connector that goes to the resistor had a burnt place on one of the terminals. AC offers a kit that you can splice into your existing wiring. Took me around 30 minutes to change. Costs around $50. So be sure to check the plug before changing anything out.
