Any trouble light? Sounds like it might be misfiring during acceleration which is more related to ignition quality than timing. Check the spark plugs--if badly worn, replace them. Might need new spark plug wiring. Check the air cleaner. Replace the O2 sensor if the truck has a lot of miles. Look for loose or cracked vacuum hoses.

SOURCE: 2000 toyota corolla hesitates when you hit the gas.

i would check your fuel filter and air filter first if they are dirty then i would change them. and if it still does it then it might be one of the sensors on your throtttle body. like your tps sensor or the iac valve or it could be your mas sensor you can also clean these with some throttle body cleaner and mass air flow cleaner that you can pick up at any auto parts store

Why does it sometimes hesitate as I step on gas from a stop? The dash readout say traction active, once moving the truck runs fine.

A year, make, model and engine size would help. What is likely happening is a speed sensor is pickling up lower speeds leaving the traction control to think there are three tires spinning. It then applies the brakes to those three tires and reduces throttle. A high end scan tool will be the best bet to see the ABS data to determine exactly what is not reading correctly.

I think my problem is the clutch whenever im on the throttle it sometimes jerks, or hesitates for a second.1997 toyota tacoma 4x4 3.4L

there is a couple of different ways a clutch can give trouble, one is clutch slip ,this noticable on hills or accelerating from a stop position, you would notice the revs going up and the speed going down rapidly, the other is clutch judder, this caused by a contaminated clutch disc usually from oil etc. from what u are saying it sounds like your car has a slight missfire ,due to a dodgy plug lead or plug , u should remove the plugs and check for track marks where the spark has been jumping to earth and replace that lead.
