I need to know if i can drill out an ignition switch on a 2000 mustang The key is broken off. I can't afford to have the car re-keyed or even to have another key made.

Spend 100 and get it fixed right. Just like the other people answered in your other question. Asking twice about drilling out ignition makes me think that you truely don't own this car......

88 ford mustang ignition

Yes the ignition switch in these years of Fords come apart and cause this problem, the switch is very inexpensive and easy to replace, it is located at the bottom top of steering column, you will need to remove the 2 bolts and drop the column down to replace the switch. There was a recall on these switches, I think it covered all 88 models, call Ford with your VIN #
