Question about 2001 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

Have an '01 Sebring and the Wiper arms won't move. They were squeaking badly before and I had to pull them to get them going, now they won't budge. What can be the problem and how can I fix?

How can I check power to the motor? I checked the fuses for the wipers and they were good. It just slowly stopped working after squeeking for a while. I would yank the blades to give it a start and it would slowly become loose and move.

Wiper arm slips on shaft after tighting on 1996 sentra

you may have a bad set of splines either on the wiper transmission arm that the wiper arm attaches to or the splines in the wiper arm were it makes contact with the attaching point that you tighten.look closely as if these splines are bad it won`t matter how tight it is it will slip.you may have to get a new wiper arm(or used)or replace the wiper transmission depending what you find.assuming of course you mean the wiper will not move at the speed it should be compared to the other arm

Drivers side windshield wiper won't move on my

Hello, There is a clip on the wiper motor which keeps the wiper rods on the motor. There is also an attachment for the other end of this rod on the backside of the wiper arm.

You need to grab the broken drivers wiper to see if the wiper rod is still attached to the wiper fixture just beneath the sheet metal where it is vented. You should be able to see the arms or rods through these slots in the sheet metal. This sheet metal is called a Cowling.

If the arm or rod moves on the drivers side when you shake the drivers wiper blade assembly, then the arm is attached underneath the Cowling and the small clip probably fell off of the other end of the arm/rod. It can be as simple as removing the wiper motor and replacing the clip.

You can not count on finding the original part. You would need to try an Autoparts store or the Dealer for the part.

If you do not want to fool with this yourself, you can go to a specialty Autoglass installer who should be able to service this and may have the part in stock. Some Autoglass shops even make Housecalls to a residence or business.

I always suggest that if you want to fix it yourself, some Auto Salvage yards let you pull the parts yourself. This is a great learning experience as you have an opportunity to break someone elses vehicle instead of your own. Then you can remove what you need and see how to do it.

I hope my solution is helpful to you.

On this1997 vw jetta gt....the wiper arm on the left side doesnt move. but the right side wiper arm does question how do i repair it thank you

take both wipers arms off carefully and remove grill under the arms .I think there is 6 screws. then you can see what parts are not working.Wiper arm removel is the key..some are fastened with a nut ,but the other way is to take a screwdriver to the tab at the base . you must pull wiper away from window and pry tab over when tab moves ,let the wiper back to the window, and notice wiper will not return all the way. that means you have released wiper arm and it will wiggle off. to reinstall pull arm back and push the tab back in place

i think that the problem with your wipers is the mechanism maybe the arm that moves the passenger side wiper become loose and that's why it doesn't move

You know it sounds like a break in the linkage as the wiper motor will not usually let you freely move the wiper arms yourself. Generally there is an arm attached to the motor which in going around and around makes a side to side action in the wiper linkage. Without any more info I would suspect a failure in the ball joint connection between the wiper motor arm and the linkage. On a car that old most likely you should look around for a replacement used linkage on eBay or Craigslist. Once obtained, get yourself a repair manual or search on youtube for a video on how to remove and replace the linkage. there are many folks selling repair manuals on CD for about 10 bucks on eBay.

The windshield wiper on the driver's side must be removed and reinstalled (I suppose) because it is no longer correctly doing the "wiper thing." The passanger side one works, but the driver side...

If you lift the wiper arms off the window to reduce friction and operate the wipers, do they both move? If the shaft and wiper arm doesn't move on the bad wiper, take it to a garage as it is a big job to replace the mechanism. If the shaft of the bad arm moves, the nut holding the wiper arm onto the rotating shaft should be tightened. If that does not fix the problem you should remove the nut and wiper arm and inspect the splined shaft end for wear. Clean the grooves and reattach the arm. This will normally fix most bad wipers and helps them do their "wiping thing".

Windshield wipers The driver's side arm is not wipping

you need to pull the plastic cap off the wiper arm base, remove the nut holding the arm to the splined shaft. then pull the arm off and turn the wipers on. if the little splined shaft is turning back and forth with the remaining wiper arm, then you have a bad wiper arm. the splines or serrations on the inside of the base get stripped and the little shaft cannot grip it to move it anymore. take your wiper arm to a local junkyard and have them find you a replacement which is not stripped. put it on in reverse order, if you have some loctite around this would be a good time to use it when you tighten the nut back down.

if the little shaft is not turning back and forth, then your wiper linkage or transmission is bad and this will most likely be a job you will want a shop to to. do not pry on the glass or use the window as a pry point to lift the arm off, it may need some gentle rocking to come loose but not prying.

01 Grand Prix. Driver's wiper barely moves, then

The wiper arms are mounted to "splined" shafts. Either the arm or shaft may be stripped. You need to remove the arm and inspect them.
