Question about 1997 Land Rover Defender 90

1 Answer

I ran out of gas, coasted to a stop, added plenty of fuel. Can't get it started now. No fuel coming from the fuel filter inlet when cracked open; under dash and engine compartment fuses are fine; no fuel pump sound when ignition turned on. How can I check the fuel pump, get to it, replace it? Am I off track? Thanks!

Replace fuel pump 2008 nissan altima

iv never known a fuel pump to make lots of clicks when starting. sounds to me like the clicking could be the starter motor either faulty or not having enough power, or a power shortage causing relays to click. check your battery connections if all looks good either charge the battery or try jump leads linked to a good battery.

1996 ford explorer stalls like it ran out of gas

It sounds like a weak fuel pump is causing the occasional stalling, particularly when attempting acceleration at normal driving speeds. It's not unusual for it to idle with no problem if the pump is weak. Also, check the fuel lines to.from the fuel pump. If all else fails, you might consider adding an auxiliary fuel pump to counter the weak OEM pump.

I ran out of gas. After adding gas the car would not start. No gas to the injectors.

Check to see if fuel is coming out of the fuel filter. If limitied replace.

2002 caravan stalled, faulty gas gage added fuel ran for 2 blocks, stalled added 4 more gallons non-ethanol - no start checked fuel pump fuses & relay had towed 2 miles - started fine! ideas?...

Looks like your fuel supply line has got chocked. This happens when the dirt from the gas tank comes into the fuel line when the tank is getting empty as it has happened in your case. Check your fuel filter and replace if required.

Where are the fuel injectors on a 2003 2.0 ford transit diesel ran out of fuel have added fuel but won't start on ignition have been advised by a mechanic to bump start vehicle then crack open the...

The age of this transit should be a self bleeding system. But if not, you will see some metal tubes running into the cylinder head, with nuts at the end. Loosen these and crank the engine over until fuel spurts through. You will only need to do 2 or 3 to get the engine started.
I have personally used a damp start spray, in the air inlet to fire up diesel trucks before and not needed to bleed the system at all. Worth a try, just open up the air filter and squirt some into the inlet, crank it over and it should start.

Stalls when under load "driving"

Check the ignition module. My car would run fine until it came up to full temp and then run bad. I continued driving the car while trying to diagnose the problem. It got worse and then one day the car stalled as if it ran out of gas (still had plenty in the tank). I was able to coast it into a parking spot and called for a ride. Upon returning, I tried to start it, started right up and ran fine. On the way home it started acting up again (once it was up to temp). It turned out to be the ignition module.

Driving over grade, ran low on gas & got a flat tire..rumbled to stop, added gas tried turing over sounded flooded, let set overnight, added more gas would'nt start, pulled gas line no gas...

check the fuel pump relay. it could have went out. If this is good and you still do not have gas being pumped then it is your fuel pump or a really dirty fuel filter. If the relay is good then I would replace the fuel filter and then if that does not fix it then go with the fuel pump

HELP! HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE ! 2001 chevy blazer fuel problems

I would check to be on the safe side the fuel filter is going in the right direction. The arrow is pointing towards the engine away from the fuel tank, Then you need to make sure the fuel pump wiring connections are good contact and did not come loose when driving.
