Orfice tube location on 99 mercury mountaineer

The orifice tube is located at the firewall, INSIDE the refrigerant line, where the end of the flex line connects to the metal pipe which, in turn, connects to the evaporator coil inside the air exchanger.

SOURCE: How do you access the spark plugs 2002 mercury mountaineer

IIRC these are a coil over design. meaning the coil is over the plug. the coil should have one 8mm bolt holding it on the lower intake manifold. remove the coild to get to the spark plugs. look by the fuel injectors, coil should be just next to it or very close. coil usually says motorcraft on it and circle in design.

It is in the liquid line - follow line from compressor to next fitting that is hot on one side and cold on the other - disconnect at that fitting and R+R Orfice Tube.

Looks like 99 to 01. they are a pain to pull. I would go mine before pulling another. Old vehicle. Junk yard part. Most likely you have many plugs to replace on it.

the orifice tube always goes in the high side , the thinner line, most of the times close to the evaporator...an easy way to find it is touch with your fingers the line ,in some place will be hot and in another cool , when it change from hot to cool there is the place, most of the time is close to the line connection , hope this help
