Question about Hyundai Motor 1999 Elantra

1999 Elantra Idiot Lights fade in and out while driving

I have owned it since new with no problems. 6 months ago it started with the high beam light fading from off to 1/2 on without the high beams on. Now the highbeam, battery and parking brake light change from totally off to varying brightness up to 1/2 on while driving and ocasionally simultaniously the daytime running lights go off. Car runs fine otherwise.

Electrical circuit/wiring problem. Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.

if your vehicle has H4 headlight bulbs fitted you will find that they have both high & low beam filaments in them, what has most likely happened is that the low beam filaments are blown & the bulbs need to be replaced, also you may find that high & low beam circuits are on separate fuses, & also the front markers may have there own fuse check the fuses as well.......hope this helps......cheers.

My low beams don't not work, only high beam. All other lights works fine. Problem started without any known issue. They were working just fine two nights ago. Where should I start? Is there a fuse or relay...

on a lot of vehicles theres a fuse for low and high beam headlights. could be a relay also. check the fuses in the fuse box. if both headlights have been changed and the fuses or relay are ok, then the problem is either in wiring or a bad dimmer switch. have a good day !!

When i turn them on one goes out..i changed it out about six months ago

My guess is that when you start your car , the daytime running lights are on . When you turn on the headlights , the low beams come on , and one of them is burnt out. With your engine running , turn on the lights and then switch from high beam to low beam a couple of times. If you have 2 then 1 then 2 , you know a bulb is burnt out.

High-low beams not working

Check for headlight relay and fuse. Some cars have separate circuits for head light flasher and normal high/low beam. From your description, I would suspect a bad connection to/from relay or relay itself.

if both high beam lights wont work then it has got to be a problem with either the high beam switch or the relay
