Question about 2002 Chrysler 300M
Same as other issues I have read about. Car works normally then check engine light kicks on and motor acts like it has a rev limiter exactly at 2500rpm. No matter what temp or duration of use. I will turn the motor off and restart and it will work normally but check engine light will stay on. If the car starts up right away it will act normally, if it cranks for a bit and than starts it will continue with the probelm. Also as a side note the cruise control stops working during this time. I have read the cps sensor, stretched timing chain theories but this car had 15,000miles when this started. I have heard of this happening on many dodge/chyrsler cars yet no recall, I hope FIAT can force a better product out of them.
Yes there is a governor which limits the rpm to 2500 rpm. It ha been limited because beyond this rev, the engine gets overheated and if kept running it that condition would slowly but surely damage the engine badly. Once you have reached the limit naturally your cruise control will stop working since its supposed to maintain that speed, which is not allowed by the governor. This governor can be removed but then you will have to risk damaging your engine fatally........................sodeep

The camshaft speed sensor on the back of the head is bad. Save time and buy a new one from the dealer, don's skimp, trust me.
