Question about 2001 Toyota Sequoia
After two replacements of my 2003 Toyota Sequoia rear door latch I came up with an inexpensive solution - I used a thick wire to make an alternative hatch release: (here's a video I made of the repair http://youtu.be/igDuqe5pa7w). I hope this helps!

If the door is shut, it is a real doozy but i have done it. you have to pry the inner panel off the door using hook tools and small, crowbar shaped tack pullers....kinda like a mini wonder bar. once the panel is off, you have to fish around inside the door and pull the cable on the latch by hand.
