The Clutch on My 1994 T-Bird does not Engage at All...

This T- Bird had Awesome Air Conditioning for Years til recent. Suddenly the clutch does not engage. I just got this car from my sister and I have never been a Ford man. Any idea where I can locate the A/C Relay? Thanks...

find the leak before you throw away $40 worth of refrigerant. it will be the "O" ring line seals and the front compressor seal, done 100's at my Ford dealer.

the problem is most likely a low charge due to a leak

I have a 95 check the freon level make sure its full 1 lb isnt enough to change the temp in the car but its enough for the sensor to make it stop running the relay is in the fuse box under the dash and on some models its in the black box under the hood

-Are you talking about air conditioning compressor?
-If so. Here there are few thing cause not to engage.
1. Freon is too low. (Or none at all)
2. Compressor itself is bad.

no it could be air condition clutch that engage/disengage the air condition compressor and disengage it through the pulley or could be the pulley bearings one of them . also check the solenoid that controls that clutch .

Clutch won't engage on air conditioning compressor

The air gap may be too wide between the clutch disc and plate. It usually happens from wear. You can test this possibility by engaging the clutch electrically as you have done and then push on the disc slightly with the handle of a hammer or screwdriver. Be careful not to get your hand or fingers too close while the engine is running. Basically you are helping the magnetic field pull the disc in. I hope this helps.

Air conditioning

If there is no r-12 or freon in the system it wont come on. Try jumping the pressure switch. It's a 2 wire plug somewhere one the AC lines. Just pull it off and jump the wire end with another wire.If the clutch engages you need freon or R-12.

A/C - compressor clutch won't engage

Your A/C system has a pressure sensor. If the system needs recharged, the compressor will not engage.
