Question about 2004 GMC Yukon
We have a 2004 Denali with 75,000 miles on it. The ABS and Service Stabilitrak warning came on. What can cause this? Is it something I can fix myself or is it a dealer thing?
There are several things which can cause this. I can give it to you in technical terms if you it will help but some of the basic thing so look for before going any further are low brake fluid level, blown fuses for the abs system as they are marked in power distribution box under hood turn your front wheels from side to side and see if the wheel speed sensor wires were somehow broken and also rear wheels.Check the basics first before spending the money but if these things seem to be ok, yes you will have to take it to a dealship to have it diagnosed.Anyone with a TECH2 scan tool it doesnt have to be a GMC dealership. There are alot of small repair shops you can check out and see if they have the proper equipment. It may save you some money in the long run. If they can afford a tech 2 chances are they have experience and know how.I hope for the best with your problem.

Stabilitrak service light will come on if a problem is detected in the StabiliTrak system.
Stabilitrak indicator warnin light should come on briefly when the engine is started. If the warning light does not come on then, have it fixed so it will be ready to warn you if there is a problem. If it stays on, or comes on when you are driving, there may be a problem with your StabiliTrak system and your vehicle may need service.
When this warning light is on, the system is off and will not limit wheel spin. Adjust your driving accordingly. This light will also flash when the StabiliTrak system is active.
If the ABS light stays on, turn the ignition off, if the light comes on when you are driving, stop as soon as it is safely possible and turn the ignition off. Then start the engine again to reset the system.
