It can be fixed, look for a metal fab place that can cut and weld heavy steel and have them weld in a patch which is cheaper then replacing the truck if it's mechanically sound. Good luck and hope this helps.

Hi I have a 1981 280se w126 and it has severe rust in the lip of the boot/trunk (big holes)....is this expensive to fix/replace? Also the metal panel underneath that area on the inside of the trunk is...

Considering your car is only worth $5,000 in great shape, I don't think it is worth repairing a rusted out frame and under body. If it was a 72, I would say yes, but 81, ahh, My brother used to restore cars, I saw what he went through, buying and selling his cars, He stopped buying rust buckets, if they had one spec of rust, he didn't touch it, there are plenty of rust free cars out there, And repairing rust is a nightmare, your Mercedes is not like a Chevy where they have every panel in stock ready to weld in, You would need to hire a body man full time for a year to get those panels fixed back up, and get it done on the frame??? Forget it, the frame is probably shot. Painting the undercarriage will take most of your money, you will never get it back out of the car. Hope this helps.

Location of crankcaase sensor

i have done this myself, chryslers are known for bad crank sensors. It is about a 2" inch long tubular plastic sensor. to locate , remove drivers side front tire and sensor will be inserted into lower engine block on firewall side just above chassis. Follow a small wire and detach before removing. It is a PITA as there is little room to work and arms length reach.MAKE SURE YOU BUY OEM, i tried an aftermarket one and it was junk and had to repeat project because i tried to save 40 bucks.

2002 nissan pathfinder with frame rusting through front curve wheelwell area of frame.

ANY FRAME DAMAGE IS DANGEROUS ! HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC ASAP. IF YOU ARE TO GET IN A ACCIDENT IT COULD BE VERY BAD NEWS .. IN FACT YOU MIGHT MAKE THE LOCAL NEWS ! DRIVE SLOW AND CAREFULLY TO YOUR LOCAL MECHANIC OR BODY SHOP, HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT.. IT FREE.. JUST ASK THEM IF THEY COULD TAKE A QUICK LOOK AT THE RUST ON MY FRAME AND IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE ?? IT COULD BE THAT THE CAR IS JUNK AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE .. SORRY ABOUT THIS BUT I CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS . SAFETY FIRST.. RUST NEVER SLEEPS.. BEST OF LUCK .. Jay

Where is he fuel filter located

Hello suckpickle3: My name is Roger and I will help. You should find the filter bolted to the left frame rail. Just ahead of the left rear lift mount. This would be a metal like tower upside down on the frame ahead of the left rear tire and wheel.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer as this way i know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

If you are in the Detroit area, I could probably recommend a shop. Lots of salvage yards in the area. Probably can get bumper with color of your car. Good luck.

New Rt rear tire losing air slowly...

Hi there!

Yes they should be able to sort it out for you.

Chances are it is not sealing on your rim,

Take it back to them, they will deflate it, paint a compound on the rim areas, then re-inflate it.

If you remove the tyre yourself, and immerse it in water up over the rim, you can mark the area if it bubbles.
You can self-fix by using impact adhesive on the rim - when tyre is fully deflated on this area.
Tyre rubber compounds are soft in this area and should conform to seal within a month or so, but sometimes don't make it.

The other reason is that rust or a crack may be evident.

If this provides a solution, Please spare a moment to rate as Fixya! Thanks.
