The noise you are probably hearing is the A/C compressor clutch dragging... when you turn the fan on inside the car it must be on either a/c or defrost to turn the compressor on engaging the clutch and eliminating the noise... The clutch can be pulled back with a clutch removal tool.. see a mechanic and he should know what to do.

Ac makes whining noise on a 2004 Pontiac grand prix

Is the whining noise coming from the engine compartment where the compressor is located or is the noise coming from inside the car? If the noise if coming from inside the car it could be your blower. When a blower wears down the bushing is the first thing to wear down and it begins to have play. That makes the blower/fan vibrate making a loud whining noise. Replacing the blower could solve that whining noise.
If the noise if coming from the AC compressor, it also could be a bad bearing within the compressor.

What could cause a grinding noise and white smoke when you turn the blower on?

Sounds like you either have a bad bearing in the blower motor or crap trapped in the squirrel cage...mice are bad about getting inside the duct work and building nests...either way it probably wiped out a bearing

I have a 01 chevy monye carlo that when i start the car and i turn on the heater it make this very loud noise and after a few mins it stops

Hi

It sounds like the fan for the heaters / blowers is shot. the bearing inside the motor will be whats making the noise, it shouldnt be expensive though.

Hope that helps

I have a 2001 Sonata. I have a squeeling pulley.

It sounds like you have a worn or streched belt making the sqeeling noise. Whenever you turn on a
device in the car that draws a fair amount of voltage
ie. a/c or headlights it will cause increased drag on
the alternator and if you have a loose/worn or glazed
belt, it can slip around the pully making the squeel.
To adjust the alt-a/c belt loosen the mounting bolts
on the tensioner, then use the adjuster bolt behind
the tensioner pully to loosen and tighten the belt.
Be sure to check the belt for cracks bald spots etc.
While the belt is loose spin the pullys to make sure
they all spin freely. Also I would replace the belt just
to be sure. Hope this helps

Fan Blower Makes noise

Sounds like the fan needs to be replaced. But first, to check for obstructions, remove the carpet liner from the underside of the dash on the passenger side and you'll see the blower motor under the dash held in with three screws. If there's something obvious blocking it, remove it and reinstall the fan. If there's nothing blocking it, then you'll probably need to replace the fan. Any auto parts store, Rockauto.com or E-Bay will have the correct fan for your Grand Prix.

Hello... The symptoms are normally a squeaky noise from it. You can find out by spraying some water on it. If the noise stops, that is your problem.
