Why would my jeep overheat with the heater or a on

check the coolant pump is good and the radiator is not blocked both air flow thru the core and coolant flow thru water tubes, you can check for coolant flow thru the rad by feeling the core for any cold spots after running engine til warm then switch. off the radiator should be hot at top and cooler has you feel down with even temp all along any cold spot means the rad is partialy blocked.if the rad is red hot at top and cold at bottom it may be the pump if its got a electric cooling fan check thats working ok, good luck

What could cause heat needle to be high even after fan has kicked in

Poor circulation of coolant, partially blocked radiator (check for cold/cooler spots in radiator core, this would indicate a blockage of the warm water) malfunctioning thermostat (when cold undo top radiator hose to see if water is circulating.) if it passes these tests then there is likely a major mechanical problem ie: head gasket etc

Okay here's the deal. The truck has a new thermostat, the radiator passed the hanker-chef test for pulling air through the radiator. The hoses and belts are good. However the 1989 chevy ck 1500 with a...

You need a good diagnostic tool for testing the radiator for cold spots it could be plugged, use your hands warm the vehicle up then shut it off key out of the ignition go to the radiator and feel for cold spots or temperature variations more than likey your plugged

Hello, i just realised my car is overheating. The temp gauge reaches around 110-115 degress while driving even when stationary. Theres plenty of coolant and i have had a new timing belt and water pump for...

Check the radiator and the cooling fan. open the hood as the engine temperature rises does the fan come on. if not that the problem, Also do this As the car is warming up(from a cold start) near operating temperature, turn off the car, watch out for the fan, engine of key in your pocket fell the radiator is there any hot or cold spot? if there is the radiator is plugged. Also if the radiator isnt plugged new doesnt mean it works, the water pump itself can be faulty. and dont forget the most important device the Thermostat you did timing belt waterpump they should of done thermostat.

Over heating. Already changed the water pump, the Thermostat and the fan clutch

Is the radiator plugged, well lets find out. with the engine warmed up,engine at operating temperature, turn off engine (Now if you have electrical cal fan it may turn on so care must be taken) with engine off run your hand on the radiator, and feel for hor and cold spot are they the same throughout? If you have a hot spot and below a cold spot your radiator is plugged and you need to recore it. Now this is for the radiator test okay. If you dont think the radiator is plugged and it passes the test run the engine when cold and do you see air coming up,like bubbles then another one then another one. Youll have a blown headgasket.Put the radiator cap on with the vehicle at operating temp is upper or lower radiator hose hard like a rock I mean stiff and bloated.and does the resovoir do you see a buble and another then the head blown But lets not be quick to judge and do the plugged radiator test

How to check thermostat on a 1999 silverado z71

When the truck is cold, with the engine off open the hood and search for for the upper radiator hose, look for a place on the hose to put your hand on it, a place that it's not close to any moving parts, (radiator's fan, and pulleys in front of the engine) now that you have fine a good spot on the hose to check the thermostat, go ahead star the engine and just wait while you keep your hand on the hose.
Ones the thermostat gets hot, it will open letting hot antifreeze flow into the radiator that's when your hand will feel this hot change on the radiator hose. It's a good time to take a look to your temperature gauge, it's too hot or too cold?
if the gauge moves higher than normally does, and you didn't feel a hot change on the hose, that means you have a bad thermostat that it's not opening on time or it's not opening at all,
if the gauge it's below than normally does, that means the thermostat it's open all the time

Truck continues to overheat changed water pump and replaced thermostat

You might have a head gasket going south on you,Here is a test you can do to confirm it,Take your overflow line and stick in a clear bottle with water start the engine an see if you have bubbles in the bottle,if not at start up wait till engine gets up to temp and the thermstat is open, if you have bubble you are getting compression in your coolant system,I hope this helps you And thanks
