Battery is drained over night

Your battery may no longer be able to hold a charge. Head to an auto parts provider or a shop and they will test your battery for you.

The other problem you may have is something known as 'parasitic draw'. Even though it appears everything in your vehicle is turned off, you may have a wiring or electronics failure that will lead to a small power draw on your battery that will continue to deplete it overnight. This repeated depletion can wear your battery out permanently.

Both conditions if left undiagnosed and unrepaired will place extra draw on your alternator and in turn a drop in fuel economy. I recommend booking it in with a trusted auto service technician.

Brake switch is designed to shut cruise off when brake pedal applied, sounds like a defective brake switch, because when she applied the brakes it's supposed to cut power to cruise module, so either that is problem or your throttle cable had iced up and or both

After trying to figure out my BeCM shorts over several weekends, I reluctantly took my Range Rover to the dealer...After not being able to diagnose/troubleshoot anything, they presented me with an estimate...

Hi bikerbri3237,

It sounds pretty cut-and dry to me. The #5 maxi fuse in the engine compartment fuse block feeds the power to the BECM fuses (7, 8, 9, 30, 22) under the passenger seat. There should be no voltage drop from one side of the fuse to the other. If one side of the fuse reads 12.5V then the other side should also read 12.5V. If you check the voltage at the BECM fuses, you will also find that they also only have 8 volts. This is why everything is going haywire - LOW VOLTAGE.

Although you are not finding any blown fuses, there is a serious voltage drop. If you are getting this voltage drop from one side of the maxi fuse to the other, then there is only ONE place the problem could be located.....AT THE MAXI FUSE.

The fuse itself could have burned terminals or the terminals in the fuse block where the maxi fuse plugs in are damaged and/or loose. You may have to do some fuse block dissassembly to fix it, or you may get by with just plugging in a new fuse. You may have to replace a terminal in the fuse block or you may get by with cleaning up the terminals up and tightening them. I am sure that if you fix the voltage drop at the maxi fuse, the power will return to your BECM fuses.

you could try another dealer, as long as they are a general motors dealer they can work on cross line models and maybe have a better Technion. it is worth the money as long as they fix it.

With car off take a multimeter and check what fuses are drawing and how much. That will help you hunt down the power drain. Usually aftermarket stereos and alarms cause these issues.

I have a 2005 f-150. Had the trailer plug wiring fixed at a dealer shop yesterday. Went out this morning and the truck will not start. I have power to everything but it won't even try to turn over. any...

Whatever the Ford dealer "fixed" is wrong. It drained your battery over night. I know you said that you have power but a drained battery can run accesories. I would call the shop who did the work and explain the situation. This is most definately not a coincidence and they should be made to remedy the problem.

2. RED= STOP Lights
