A few basic's first , does the temp gauge go into the red , if not where does it level off at ? if the temp gauge does'nt move would suggest the temp sender unit is at fault , have the OBD codes read this should tell you what if any sensors/switch's are faulty, does the engine use a lot of coolant , are you always having to top it up ? if so would indicate the water pump is not working , to test run engine at stationary and hold at 2000 rpm after 10-15 minutes yuo would expect the engine to be at operating temp if the water pump isn't working the radiator top hose will be very hot and the bottom hose will be cool,if the top hose is cool as well then the thermostat may not be opening , after all this let me know how thinga are

I have a 2003 FORD explore and it's running hot this the 1st time it ran hot on me and now it want started up

If the engine overheated it may not restart until cool. Check coolant level for proper amount first. If the vehicle overheated, I would strongly suggest replacing the thermostat due to it being overheated and possibly the cause of the overheating to start with

2006 Ford Explorer overheat

You have no story or details here
Hopefully you stopped driving it,
within a few miles of it overheating.
I assume you do not have vehicle
repair experience since you ask?
Did you check for codes?
Did it go into head temp fail safe?
Has it lost coolant due to a leak?
Sort of new vehicle to have any problems

My 1997 ford explorer overheated and the transmission slipped

Tranny fluid may have been contaminated with coolant since tranny cooler lines go to radiator or condensor.
I would fix your leak on radiator, then completely drain tranny fluid and filter and replace.

Ford explorer

if your head gasket was bad it would most likely be overheating. your antifreeze usage could be from and intake manifold gasket leak which would cause it to use antifreeze but not overneat. the last possible thing i can think of is that there is a leaky hose that is just pooling up somewhere and not leaving puddles.
