Sounds like a pressure regulator.

You may want to have your crankshaft sensor and or your camshaft sensor checked out. You didn't say how many miles you had on it, or if your check engine light comes on, but these are problems often overlooked.

Have a fuel pressure test done on it, might be a weak fuel pump, or the fuel pressure regulator. Was the fuel filter replaced?

The only way to check the pump is to have a fuel pressure test done, then go from there.

1999 ford explorer stalling idling rough converter smoking

Check engine light is supposed to flash if there is a problem...what code are you getting?? Converter smoking may mean that its plugged, try removing the o2 sensor before the cat and see if it runs better. Scan it, and get me a code !! If you don't have a scan diagnostic too most auto part stores will let you borrow one, if you leave your drivers license.

Have a 2.5 liter and number 2 cylinder exploded. I replaced the entire engine including head, valves, spark plugs and wires. new engine ran a little rough and had a check engine light for a o2 sensor....

check the spark plug wires. go somewhere dark, get a spray bottle with some water in it, then mist the spark plug wire and look for a spark to jump

Which is bank 2 for the o2 sensor for post cat?

HiI!!
6 cyl. and 8 cyl. engines are divided into 2 Banks, standing in front of the Engine, the Bank 1 is the side where the #1 spark plug is (on V6 Ford Engines is on the PASSENGER SIDE). Bank 2 is on the DRIVERS SIDE.
Check the following diagram for HO2 sensor locations (This diagram applies to Ranger, Explorer and Mountaineer models) :

2 would be Bank 1 and 2A would be Bank 2.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

I HAVE A 1998 FORD EXPLORER AND IT HESITATES ON ACCELERATION AND SOMETIMES IDLES ROUGH. I REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, WIRES, AND THE COIL PACK AND STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEMS. THE CODES SHOW MISSFIRES IN BANK 3...

Try running some fuel injector cleaner through your fuel tank. What you may have are a couple of plugged or missfiring fuel injectors. I would suggest checking all of your wiring to your injectors to insure good connection, replace your fuel filter and check for vacuum leaks.
