Question about 2004 Chevrolet Equinox

1 Answer

Steering wheel vibrates when applying brakes. Have checked brake linings, pads and anti-lock. Have two Equinox 2005 and 2007. Put new tires on 2007. Still have the problem. Same problem with both approximately 60,000 miles on each. Have checked online and apparently quite a few people have had the problem and have not been able to resolve it.

Could be a warped brake rotor. Have the rotors checked for wear and if they are within tolerance, have them resurfaced.
If they are beyond wear tolerance, replace the brake rotors.
You said you replaced the tires. Did you have all the wheels balanced?? Might want to check this also.

Vibrating steering wheel & pedals

I would replace ALL motor & transxale mounts if they are
over 8 years old
I would suspect, as usual, the shops don't remove rust or lube
a thing on brakes,I would do that Take them apart again
Recheck all work that was done
I would drag the brake while on the gas, when it
vibrates, to turn off the trans torque converter clutch
& see if that is an issue.
Could have a bad axle joint
I would in no way trust any shop to have done
a though job of what your saying.
You most likely have worn inner ties rod joints on the
steering rack,something else to check
What about tie rod ends & ball joints & upper strut bearings?

2006 Honda CRV makes screeching sound while turning corners

built into the brake pads is a small bit of metal that when the pads get to low to be safe , runs on the rotor and produces the squeal applying the brakes stops the vibration so the noise drops off

My car vibrate at 100-120km/hr i have bought new tires and done the wheel balncing but it still vibrate and whenever i tried to apply the break at this speed it vibrate serously. it's a 2001 mazda mpv

This is due to poor settings of the wheel bearings,tyres,- check balancing once again, wheel drums/ brake pads, suspension , joints and steering.
In all the entire front suspension must be checked, the WHELL ALIGNMENT must be checked with precision and each of the wheels must be checked for damage on hub, axle or chassis.

Brakes all 4 lock up steering wheel shakes above

OK, when the ABS module is unplugged, the same results. That tells me that the ABS system is not working properly.
Did they look into the master cylinder and other abs related components?
Any ABS codes on it?

If steering wheel shakes above 50 mph that's likely to be the tires on it, rather than a brake problem.

Have tires balanced and rotated and inspected for out of roundness that might cause vibration above 50 mph.

I own a 2007 Chevy Malibu LS. Recently my brakes have been 'squealing' and my steering wheel has always vibrated when I press on the brake. I thought it was my brake pads and rotors but I just had them...

checked out replace pads /and cut rotors if pads are glazed over [film u were told ] the pads are smoothed over from getting to hot -riding brake or stop and go traffic lot of down hill braking which ever was the cause ur brakes got over heated and glazed over and are very smooth also the heat transferred to the rotors also warped them when u get steering shake when braking 90 percent of the time its warpage in rotor and the only way is to have them removed and put on a cutter to check for out of round also abs doesnt cause this abs [anti-lock braking] is designed to transmit a pulse to ur brakes when it senses a wheel is about to lock up or skid u would feel the pulse in ur brake pedal not ur steering

check the tires for knots or lumps, remove tire and wheel check brake pad and brake rotor. sounds like its either a brake problem or a tire problem.

2005 Equinox steering wheel shakes when applying brakes. Have checked brake lining, rotors, rotated and balanced tires and disconnected ASB and nothing stopped the shakes.

have the rotors machined, shaking when braking is an indication of a warped rotor or drum, even though it may look ok, the rotor can still be warped, it would be a good idea to have the rotors/drums machined and new pads installed if the old ones are 4-5/32'nds or lower. that should take care of your shaking when braking issue

Car shakes every time when appling brakes

The rotors are warped, need to replace them, also when the wheeles are put back on, the lug nuts need to be tourqued down to the specifications for that car, or the new rotors will warp again.
