There is no switch, If the light is on there is a problem with your system. The most common issue is someone installing mix-matched tire sizes or running with a low tire. This eats up the coupler in the transfer case.

possibly, but the most common problem is the engagement motor located on the rear of the transfer case. Motor looks like small wiper motor and can be replace fairly easily.

if this is a 4x4 vehilce, make sure the switch to activate the 4x4 system is in 2WD. This sound like the 4WD has been engaged. Once the 4WD is engaged and you make turns on dry pavment this tension you're feeling will happen. This is a conflict inside the 4x4 system due to dry roads, the clutches in the rear differentail or transfer case are binding. The only time you engage the 4x4 is on wet/slipperly surface.

i got a 98 bravada and my AWD light was on, what i did to fix it was replace the transfer case motor and thats all, i did a bunch of research and found out that the transfer case motor is the main conponent with of your AWD it tells the transfer case when to give the front wheels power. try replacing that

drain the transfer case and check for metal particles in the fluid, there also may be debris bigger than that, try the fluid change in any event then if that doesn't do the trick you will have to overhaul the transfer case, this is a standard transfer case used by light duty trucks and SUV's based on a truck chassis, not the viscious drive type used bt passenger cars like Suburu

Do you have a 4WD Bravada? Or an AWD? If it is AWD, there is no shifting. It is in 4WD Drive all the time.

Do you have something on the dash that allows you to change from 2WD to 4WD HI/Lo? Is so, then check your fuses in the fuse box. You may just have a blown fuse.
