SOURCE: anti theft system

The chip is in the key. Either the key has lost it's program or the transceiver is not recognising the key. Try another key if you have one.

SOURCE: theft light blinking/car won!t start

If you have key numbers on the door, you should enter the code, then immediately start the truck. If this does not work contact the dealer for a sequence to reset the alarm.

SOURCE: Red immobiliser light flashing rapidly

a blown fuse will not emit a smell unless its blown violently, This means dead short, If you have a dead short that would explain the dead battery and the lack of co operation of the jumping it. Has the car got a system in it? this is going to have to be a large short to create what your describing

I replaced ignition switch and cylinder now car starts but shuts down after a few seconds

does a security light flash on the dash if so the anti-theft has activated and will have to be reset, synced to the BCM if I remember I think you have to use the same colour key for things to work.

What should I do if immobiliser active light comes on? car won't start

You need the dealer to use a special tester to scan the system and see what is causing this issue.

Computer shut down fuel system reset

Hi, Sounds like the immobiliser isn't de-activating. The system will prime when the ignition is turned on and the car will start but then the immobiliser will cut the fuel after 2-3 seconds. Are there any warning lights or led lights staying on. If you have a spare key and haven't tried it then start there first. If you do and neither key works then it could be a number of things including the pick up ring around the ignition barrel but you would need to get the car checked out proffesionally before you start replacing parts. Good luck, Jon.

My 2008 VW beetle will not start, Turn key nothing happens

A friend made the mistake of laying his keys on the microwave and next morning his car wouldn't start. The microwave radiation or magnetism had erased the code from the transponder chip and would no longer disarm the immobiliser.

Ensuring the immobiliser is disarming is the first step in any non-start situation. Your vehicle handbook will explain how this applies to your car.

2006 suzuki swift immobiliser light flashing and car not starting what can i do to fix it?

You may have a bad key chip, try a diffrent key in the ignition, also make sure you do not have magnet strip mini swipe cards on key chain near the ignition. this sounds like the immoboilizer system is active. this system will not allow the coils to spark.
The key would be the first thing to check. do this by using another key.if car still will not start then the key reader may be bad, this is located around the ignition . the last problem could be the module or a broken wire. The best way to check this would be with a scan tool. there will be codes stored in the anti or body module. the codes will tell you where the failure is and with some testing the problem can be found. the scan tool can help by reading the values and readings. it can tell you if the key chip is read and if the module accepts it. i think if the spare key does not start the car then it will be cheaper to have a shop diagnose the problem. this will help you from just putting parts in. also this anti theft system needs programing when certain parts are replaced.
hope this is helpful, good day

When the car is turned off, a picture of a car flashes on the dash. what is this?

the flashing red light comes on after a minuite of removing the key from the ignition or locking the car, the light is the immobiliser light, when this light is flashing the immobiliser is active, when put the key into ignition and turn on the ignition the immobiliser will turn off if its the correct key.

Hi, We have a renault megane dynamique cabriolet. The distributor belt went recently so we replaced the engine for a used renault megane dynamique hard top. Worked fine to begin with, then suddenly one day...

To check to see if the immobiliser is causing the car not to start there is a small red LED in the centre of the instrument panel normally with the Car locked the LED light should be flashing everyone second this is normal behaviour, Now with the key in the ignition and ignition on normally the led light will go out giving the immobiliser authorisation to start if in this procedure the LED light is flashing rapidly then there is a problem with most likely the key if you have a second key I suggest you test it,
