My battery died, replaced it but then car would cut out when I was stopped at a light. Realized this happens when my air conditioner is on. So as long as my car is idoling I cant run my a/c. Actually my a/c or my defroster.

Re: car cuts out when idoling
The idle system has gone bad in your car. Did anyone work on the AC? An overcharged ac also put so much load on the engine that it can make it stall when idling. The idle sytem is suppose to raise up the idle of the engine when there is a load such as a headlight or an ac system.

when at the stop lights , you will have your foot on the brake as it will still be in drive or in gear and you don't want the car to move
a simple test is to apply the hand brake to stop the car and don't touch the foot brake
if it idles ok but cuts out when you apply the foot brake , replace the brake booster as it has a vacuum leak that is causing the problem
you can do this test in the garage by starting in neutral and allowing the engine to idle , then apply the foot brake
iof it dies it is the booster
Check the cap on the fuel tank as sometime they fail and wont let air back into the tank as fuel is used. The vehicle will run for a while hen cut out as a vacuum form in the tank After it has been stopped for while air leaks back into the tank it will start and run for a short time
Oh yeah. Owned a 95 SC1 for five years myself with a 1.9L I believe engine. These cars require that the ECM be set right or "else." To reset the computer, you will need to unhook both battery cables, wait about 15 minutes and rehook. See if this makes a difference in how it runs. If not, you may have dirty fuel injectors or fuel filter.
It sounds like you may have an EGR valve sticking open. That can also cause the p0171 code, which means fuel system lean, and the p0401 which is insufficient EGR flow, kinda sounds like the valve may just be stuck open and not moving at all. replace the EGR valve.
I had this problem. Check your hose that goes from your filter to your intake manifold. Make sure your connections are tight and there are no cracks. Mine had a crack and was easy to replace. Hope this helps
your power starts at the brake light fuse, check with a test light, then proceed to stop light switch on brake pedal under dash, one wire will be hot when when you check it with your test light, the other won't be until you press down the brake pedal then the power flows through to the second wire,if no power to second wire replace switch,if you have power remove tail light bulbs and check for power in side socket.
