Electrical problem. ac,heater blower, tachometer.speedometer, fuel gauge, non of these are working. SEEMS AS THOUGH THERE IS NO POWER. RELAYS AND FUSES WERE CHECKED AND SEEMED OK. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PROBLEM COULD BE. THE CAR HAS ONLY 50K MILES. lEONARD D. ARMSTRONG
we checked all fuses and they looked good. also we exchanged the one relay carring the same part number and both relays worked in the horn position. do you think a scanner would isolate an electrical problem like this showing a code naming a specific part as the problem? ALSO DID YOU SAY THIS IS A COMMON WITH WITH THIS CAR AND OTHER OLDSMOBILES? We need answers. The fuse will be seperately for all these things have u checked it. If it is not good there is a Relay in the Box under the Hood for the Same thing. Change this Relay and they Should Work

check the fuses. they are under the back seat just pull up on the lower part of the back seat and it will come out. fuse box is on the drivers side. check to see if water is getting in that could be the cause.
GET A GOOD FUSE TESTER, TEST EVERY FUSE. 2 FUSEBOXES. ONE UNDER THE HOOD, ONE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IGNITION SWITCH SHOULD BE ON WHILE TESTING THE FUSES. THE FUSES CAN BE TESTED WHILE STILL IN THE BOX. THERE ARE TEST POINTS FACING OUT. POWER ON ONE SIDE ONLY, BAD FUSE. POWER ON BOTH SIDES, GOOD FUSE. POWER ON NEITHER SIDE SPARE FUSE.
CHECK 10 AMPS FUSES IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LEFT SIDE OF DASH. DRIVER SIDE FOR DASH LIGHTS AND SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER. CHECK UNDER THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON DRIVER SIDE.FOR POWER WINDOWS + AC FUSES AND RELAYS LOOK ON THE FUSE COVER IT WILL HAVE A LEGEND OR LOCATIONS FOR ALL FUSES AND RELAYS.
Have you check the fuse to see if the fuse for the gauges are bad, also there is a fuse box under the hood that may contain additional fuses if one is not located in the fuse compartment under the dash.
Likely either a bad switch or relay. I'd also probe all fuses(regardless of what they are for) with a test light just to make sure they have power at both ends of each (takes ten minutes and eliminates the possibility that you missed something there.)
You probably have a sporadic fuse failure - go in and replace the fuses linked to these functions with NEW fuses and make sure there is no corrosion on the fuse box connections - this should solve.
VOLTAGE REGULATOR
Located behind the instrument cluster
It is attached to the rear panel of the cluster.
input from battery is 10Volts, it regulates down to 5Volts
Any higher voltage inputed will overload the capacitors and resistors will burn,
Also check power distribution center, under hood upper motor area in drivers corner, check all relays and fuses.
Before you rip in to the dash check all ground wires, battery to ground, harness grounds, driver/passenger mid fram rail, Fuel sender is also ground to top of gas tank. IF ALL gauges do not work, that just leaves voltage regulator and/or cluster is malfunction,
