Cars usually don't do this(radio turns on and off, things fluctuate up and down) unless someone has really messed up some wiring. I would really like to help you, but smething like that would actually require me being there. The overheating problem might be due to the radiator fan not turning on when the engine reach a certain temp. Turn on the ac,, and see if both radiator fan come on. If not then check the fuse for the radiator fan. The other problem would requie me actually looking at the car and doing some electrical test.

Yes he is right one is for the ac. he is also right it doesnt operate unless the ac compressor is on. He just said it in another way. At least on of the fan has to work when the temp goes up. Idle the car for a while and see if the fan turns on when temperature on the gauge go past halfway. If it doesn't maybe the fan is bad itself.

I cant tell you about the wireing becouse i dont know what they did. but for the over heating theres a few things to check. 1 check thermostat. 2 check water pump 3 check radiator make sure not cloged and 4 check temp switch usually located on water neck on intake manifold.

Hi, as a retired radio installer here is what I reccomend. First, you should the head unit. They are very cheap now. Wallmart can fix you up for under "a c note". Pick up a pair of 5x7 speakers for the rear. Most of your toyota systems are using sep. Amps. All.told, including labor you should be under $200. That should give you many happy miles.

Stereo dos not work

first confirm fuse for radio circuit is good, replace if its blown.
If fuse is good, and radio still not working, check power wires and plugs from back of radio to fuse block--check for broken wire, rubbing wire (worn insulation = short in circuit), loose connecting blocks, loose /broken wires in connection blocks. If that all checks out -- got to the nearest wrecker and get a 2nd hand radio OR by an aftermarket radio. OR pay an auto-radio shop to check your radio and maybe the wiring.

Engine has lost compression

check the coolant level, it may be overheating. if it will start again, start it, and while running, watch the temperature guage. overheating would deffinately make an engine cut off after running for a short period of time. if the temp climbs near the red zone of the guage, dont let it get there, cut it off, and check the cooling system.
another cause could be the fuel delivery. fuel pressure varies at different temperatures, so if it will start when its cold then dies at normal operating temp, it could just not be getting enough gas after it is warm as the pressure has changed. if it isnt the temperature, try running some fuel injector cleaner through it (cheap additive to gas found at almost any gas station) but dont get your hopes up :p cuz its usually not the cheap stuff that fixes cars unfortunately.

Dash lights dont work

You may have blown some fuses when the short occurred. Check all fuses . Also check any fuse wires that you may find under the dash. These are wires with built in fuse. they are easy to spot if burned out.

Gas gauge not working wiring a radio in a n sparked a wire now no gas gauge or speedometer, everything else works. Any suggestions

First check all fuses, you should have two different fuse cases one in the engine compartment and one under the driver side dash.

If it's not a fuse you're going to have to break out the multi-meter and work backwards from the gauges all the way through the electrical system until you find your short. The fix will depend on where the problem lies, more than likely are relay along the way. If it was just your gas gauge I might suggest a fried gas pump, that happened to me in a 88 Mark VII.

If you're not an expert on disassembling and reassembling a car dash you may want to take it into a shop, try to find one that does a flat rate for diagnosis since it will probably be a few hours to figure out the root issue.

Good luck, :)

Radio cuts out windows dont work

I have the same problem with my 96 camaro. I checked the fuses box and the radio, windows and IP dimmer fuses don't have power. More likely is a short in the motor of one of the windows.

Radio speakers shorting out

I suggest Checking the ground wire to the battery. It sounds like it is loosing earth ground to the speakers.or the technician didn't attach wire back to engine block near the compressor.
