I want to know what the three wires on the overdrive lockout switch do.

one will be earth the other two to the others stop you engaging overdrive in lower gears.u can extend wire and move switch to dash you can bypass lockout giving overdrive in all forward gears but engaging reverse with overdrive on will destroy the unit so not a good idea if the moved switch on dash is easier to miss

My 1999 ford expedition is stuck in overdrive. The button is broken. Is there any wires out the 3 that I can touch together to get it out of overdrive?

Best way to do this is to get a hold of the schematic, study it and then jump the wires that will do the trick.

My O/D lights is on and didnt go off with switch

Year? Make? Model?

I'd guess the switch is bad.
Get a two prong, open/close ( on/off ) switch at autozone. (5 bucks)There will be two wires running to the switch, cut them. When they are connected together the overdrive light should turn off. When not connected the light will turn on

Crimp one female connector to each wire. Slide one female connector on each prong of the new switch. Mount switch. Presto.

Now, if you do go this route, and you cut your wires, if the light stays on regardless if they are connected or not, there may be a broken or squeezed od wire somewhere. If you have floor shifter the overdrive wires are usually fed through the shift linkage witch could rub the wires overtime and break the connection. That's where I'd e looking and inspecting wires if I were you.

Okay I have a 2004 ford crown turn signals don't work when I turned the turn signal stick to the right abs and brake light comes on and traction control don't work

I just recently had that problem on one of our '03 Crown Vics and we had to change out the wiring.

First, I took off the panels below the steering wheel and seen that a bunch of the wires that go to the multi-function switch we exposed because they were scraping against the metal shield. Tried repairing the wires. Worked for about 10 minutes and the problem came back.

Next I changed the switch thinking it may have burnt out do to the exposed wires touching. That didn't work.

So thats when we decided to replace the wiring, which fixed the problem. The wires further down the lines melted together due to the exposed wires touching.

My overdrive button is broken off , there are three wires stiicking out and it is in overdrive all of the time . is ther a way to dissingage the overdrive

There's just a pin that holds the shifter arm in place. You can remove the pin from the top under the rubber boot and pick up a used shifter arm from just about any scrap or recycling yard. I've already sold 5 or 6 this year for 25 dollars. It takes about 5 minutes, and comes with a good OD button. To be quite honest you could put a clip on two of the exposed wires in the same amount of time it'd take to replace it.

Cannot disengage overdrive on 2003 Ford F150 4.2L

Check the Fuse for the OD function, this is cab fuse panel fuse #29, 5A.
If This fuse is blown, chances are the wires at the end of the shift lever are chaffed and causing the problem. This happens some times ( can't say why ), but it is simple enough to check and repair the wires if the insulation is chaffed.

Broken and missing button for Overdrive switch

Did you try replacing the housing and button? There could be a reason why that is, perhaps the overdrive has or had an issue from prior owner because of the transmission having problems. If your not comfortable with replacing the housing and button, get a few qoutes from a reputable shop, then decide if it is worth it.
