Question about 1997 Buick Skylark
The car will do this most of the time, but sometimes it stays running. I turn the key and the car will run for about 1 second and then dies. When this happens I can try to start from one time to having to just let it sit until the next day before it will stay running. When I first turn the key there is a noise that last about 3 seconds that sounds like a fuel pump running. This noise sounds like it is coming from under the hood on the passengers side. I have replaced the fuel cap upon recommendation, but this problem continues.
Hey there..my name is Keith..and yes..and if everthing is normal..you should hear the fuel pump running for about 3 seconds and the fuel injection system pump up..and then it will quit..thats normal..but from what you have wrote..it sounds like you have an electrical problem..and the only thing i can think of that controls everthing is your ignition switch..and it not the one your key fits in..thats just a lock..and when you turn it..it activates the real ignition switch in your steering collum..and it powers everthing..and when you turn the key lock off..it shuts everthing off..and it sounds like its not doing that..so that would be the 1st thing i would look at and replace..i hope this has helped...if not..write me back..i'll be glad to help ya
