1998 Ford Expedition-slowly dripping gas out of a hose back bumpe

I'm curious towards the reasoning for a slow gas drip out of a hose underneath the vehicle towards the rear right end (gas cap side). From what I can tell, this is a vent hose or something like that and gas is slowly dripping from it. The car is running fine and there's not even a hint of gas smell, and I can't figure it out for the life of me. It just started out of the blue... Anyhow, I've searched the typical mechanic books and can't find this hose mentioned anywhere. It does seem brittle, but I can't see where it might have split from anything. There are four other lines, around that area, but they're all aluminum or steel or some type of metal. I'd sure hate to take it to a shop and spend money on an initial diagnosis to find out that it was something simple, but any gas leak is a dangerous one (obviuosly) and I need to get it resolved ASAP. Can you point me in the right direction?

It's actually leaking from the hose though, and there's no gas coming from any of the steel lines. However, the hose is brittle, but II can't see where it was attached to anything else. It doesn't look like it severed from anything, and it's pointing straight down. That's why I thought it might be a vent hose or something.

You may have a steel line rusted to the point of seeping gas back there also or a hose getting porous with age.

If it is near the area of the gas tank door/pipe it could be the vent line that attaches to the pipe from the top of the gas tank to vent air out of the tank while pumping gas to avoid spit back. Beyond that without seeing I can't help you. Sorry. Take a look though.

The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. It's possible that the last time it was replaced, one of the fuel line connections was left loose. Have it checked out immediately!

Just carry lots of water with you and keep checking the temp gauge and refilling as necessary till fix is made. If you think it is in the heater area., turn the heater valve all the way off to minimize coolant loss in that area.

You can get hose pinch off devices that you mount on the heater hoses and tighten to stop water flow. You can get them at auto parts stores. Running an engine out of coolant can cost over 4 thousand to repair. The cost of the pinch-offs are only a couple of bucks.

I need to install heater hoses driping on #4 coil

If you're saying it's dripping on the number 4 coil on the heater core the the core will need to be replaced as that's cheaper than repairing the core.

I have a 1999 Ford Expedition that has coolant leaking out the back next to my spare tire. It's a lot of fluid. Is there a hose disconnected?

you need to put it up on a hoist and see where it is coming from.i just did a windstar that was dripping down the back of the transmission to the ground, but it was a broken pipe on the heater core and it was running down the firewall behind the fire mat.

Where is the heater core hose in my 2000 ford expedition?

check closer to just underneath the firewall--it could be a smaller problem than a heater core--Ford 4.6--5.4 engines have a tube just underneath the intake manifold that the rubber hose goes bad and it will leak towards the back of the engine.Lets hope so-what i hear its very expensive to change a heater core in an Expedition.

2004 Expedition Sun Roof Leaks

you have 2 drains in the front that go down the a pillars and dump near the fenders.

The rear usually go down the B pillar or C pillar and out thebottom near the rocker panel.

Blow them out from the top with compressed air and make sure you have air flow at the exits.. Open the roof to see drain holes in the four corners.

-----------
  • The roof opening panel leaks
  • Roof opening panel adjustment.
  • Front rail seal.
  • Drain tube attachment points.
  • Roof opening panel water trough and seal.
  • Roof opening panel drain hose.
  • Roof opening panel seal.

Water dripping from underneath

That hose is the drain hose for the a/c. When condensation forms from running the a/c it drains out through the black hose you are refering too.If it doesn't drain out it will eventually overflow inside the car and get your carpet wet.
