2005 hyundai sonata trans problems

Hello

The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

What does p1171 code means and what needs to be replaced or repaired

Buy a can of Mass Air Flow cleaner. Clean your air flow meter which is attatched to the air box. If you have access to a scan tool look at the live data and under Mass Air Flow it should read 14kg/h. If it is at 16 to 20kg/h it is too high. If your tool reads g/s it should be around 3.75g/s to 4.00g/s. I chased this problem for weeks trying everything.

2002 Toyota Highlander 2WD, 4 cylinder

Welcome to FixYa. I'll be glad to help you out.

Code P-1150 indicates an Air-Fuel sensor range/performance issue.

The air fuel sensor is similar to an oxygen sensor, but it does a different job.

Without in-depth analysis on a scan tool that can read the output of the A/F sensor, it is hard to tell you exactly what is happening, but prior experience indicates that you probably need to replace the A/F sensor.

You would do well to purchase a genuine Toyota A/F sensor, as the cheaper 'aftermarket' units do not perform well; your check engine light may remain on after you replace the sensor with an aftermarket

Thanks for choosing FixYa for advice.

Code U0000 The problem is with a Hyundia Sonata 2.5 L V6 P0711 the engine starts and runs for two seconds and then p2300 shuts off. The fuel pump works,...

there is no factory code uoooo, if you took it to auto zone or pep boys they used a generic scan tool, however po711 is a transmission code, sounds like a bad cranksensor, or a camsensor fault, save yourself alot of money dont throw parts at it, take it to the dealer, they know the product, and have the factory scan tool,
