Question about 2006 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

My 2006 Explorer sporatically revs really high it sound loud, and feels like it gains power slowly, but there is no consistency to when it does this, low speeds, high speeds, in the middle or driving, from a dead start, no warning lights, no overheating...

I don't think the idle control valve would affect the car at off idle speeds. Sounds like a bad throttle position sensor. Can be found on or around the shaft of the throttle body. Get it tested first before replacing it.

Sounds like the idle air control valve is sticking, remove clean or replace.

When i put my 2006 explorer in rev it didnt move and when it finally did it man a loud noise and jumped into gear. Do you know what the problem or solution is?


Does the shifter work okey and was this a one time thing? It my not have been in reverse. Is it okey now or does it always bang into reverse?

try replacing your idle control censer it is normal for a car to idle high for a short period when it is cold but only for about 60 seconds
