Question about Toyota 4Runner

2005 toyota 4-R lim. Unusual sounds emanating from under car

I drive a 2005 toyota 4-Runner limited. I have 48600 miles and am 3600 out of warranty. Last night I backed up, out of a driveway, put the car in drive and the vehicle lurched to the right, the car rocked and it sounded as though I'd just driven over a huge pile of brush. The steering wheel feels as though it's pulling to the right and there's a vibration in the steering wheel which wasn't there prior to this incident. In addition there's a sound, which may be coming from the front right wheel like a thunk-thunk-thunk, which directly relates to the revolution of the wheel.

I immediately pulled over, turned off the engine and there was nothing...I hadn't run over anything, there was nothing touching the under carriage...When I restarted the car I noticed briefly the MAINT light flashed 3 times and then disappeared and as I drove the 2.7 miles home that there was a vibration, dull kind of repetitive sound and maybe I smelled rubber....all on the right side of the vehicle.

Today a friend suggested I try driving it again and as I pulled out of the driveway I could hear this sound I 1st described coming from I think the front right area...I returned to the drive.

High pitch noise from under hood when i start my 2005 toyota 4 runner. The noise stops after about 30 seconds. sounds like a turbo charger spooling up but i dont have one.

You could remove the serpentine belt and see if the noise continues, then check each component one at a time.
You describe a slipping belt because the alternator pulls hard for the first few seconds after you start the engine.

Describe Sir I already bought a new TOYOTA TUNDRA from united state of America from camelback Toyota scion 1333 east camelback *phoenix, AZ 85014 (www.camelbacktoyota.com) and shipped it to STATE OF QATAR....

I haven't any reason to disbelieve the Qatar agent when he or she says that that any car purchased outside of the Qatar will not be under warranty. GMC is not the same as Toyota, I guess.

The Toyota Tundra is an excellent vehicle, and I'm sure that if you do the regular service on it then it will last a long time. However, there's the issue of whether it's under warranty in case anything goes wrong with it.

I guess it's one of those things that one might encounter in international business with warranties and such.

I never thought about that issue as being an issue, but apparently that's what they told you.

COVERAGES Every Toyota Car, Truck and SUV is built to exceptional standards. And that's not idle boasting. We back it up with these Limited Warranty Coverages: Basic 36 months/36,000 miles (whichever comes first) (all components other than normal wear and maintenance items). Powertrain 60 months/60,000 miles (whichever comes first) (engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, seatbelts and airbags). Rust-Through 60 months/unlimited miles (corrosion perforation of sheet metal). Emissions Coverages vary under Federal and California regulations. Refer to applicable Owner's Warranty Information booklet for details. Accessories For accessories purchased at time of the new vehicle purchase, the Toyota Accessory Warranty coverage is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the vehicle's in-service date, which is the same coverage as the Basic coverage of the Toyota New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

For dealer-installed accessories purchased after the new vehicle purchase, the coverage is 12 months or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the date the accessory was installed on the vehicle, or the remainder of the above 36 months or 36,000 miles Basic coverage from the vehicle's in-service date, whichever provides greater coverage, with the exception of car covers. Car covers are warranted for 12 months from the date of purchase and do not assume any coverage under the Toyota New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

For customer (non-dealer)-installed accessories purchased after the new vehicle purchase, the coverage is 12 months or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first), from the purchase date of the accessory.

You may be eligible for transportation assistance if it's necessary that your vehicle be kept overnight for repairs covered under warranty. Please see your authorized Toyota dealership for further details. Hybrid-Related Component Coverage Hybrid-related components for hybrid vehicles are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles. The HV battery may have longer coverage under emissions warranty. Refer to applicable Owner's Warranty Information booklet for details. For complete details about Toyota's warranties, please refer to the applicable Owner's Warranty Information booklet or see your Toyota dealer. ---
The above warranties are just 'limited' warranties which may not be honored internationally, especially when the dealer in Qatar tells you that they will not honor it.

The end of the above tells you to see your Toyota dealer and that's what you did. Maybe you could argue your case with a district or regional manager, but I think that it probably will be difficult to find free service in your country.

That means that you will have to pay for any service that your vehicle requires, rather than getting it free or covered under the 'limited' warranty.

I wish you luck, however, in obtaining warranty service for your Toyota vehicle, over there.
