Question about 2000 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

2000 Boniville bucks like a horse and trys to stall

I was told that it was the mass air senser. I also need a O2 senser. The car bucks for awhile then stalls. Some times I let it sit for awhile and that helps. If it is the mass air flow senser, is it easy to repair? I'm thinking about getting a book.
Thanks

That could be it. but it could be the timing too i think.. if you run the car and its hot when it starts to buck and stalls.. the rubber belt could be getting warm and expandig and causing it to slip out of timming just a hair.. then you let it set and cool down the belt then re-cools and runs fine. that or it could be just simple needing new wires and plugs. if they are mis firing and then the plug misfires completely it will cause the car to buck and stall out.. i personally would check wires and plugs then the distributor block make sure there are no mis firing there also.

Van stalls intantly- misses bad if I give it gas.. Changed intake gaskets, both o2 sensers, cleaned MAF senser, and changed fuel filter.. Codes read bank 1&2 lean.. Only thing I can think of next is...

It could be a weak pump. To check, have your fuel pressure checked to see if it is correct for your vehicle. On mpfi, pressure should be around 50 psi-check the requirement for your particular vehicle. Then look to the injectors.

I have a trouble code indicating a bad o2 sensor, but I can't figure out what sensor it is. There are 4

What was the code? When it tells you bank 2 sencer 1 that would be the passenger side 1st senser

The car has no horse power, the check engine light is on and there is no problems with the computer board or co sensor

Hello, here are three of the most common causes for loss of horse power.

1. Idle air control valve. ( sometimes they can be removed and cleaned )
2. MAF, ( mass air flow ), sensor. ( sometimes they can be removed and cleaned )
3. O2, ( oxygen sensor ). ( needs to be replaced )

All three of these things are part of your emission system, and all three of these things, if faulty or dirty can prevent the EMC, ( electronic control module ), from determining the proper fuel/air mix ratio. The ratio should be 1 part fuel to 14.7 parts air. A bad fuel/air mix can cause the following.
a. Bad idle.
b. Loss of power/poor acceleration.
c. stalling/fake stalling.
d. Poor gas mileage.
e. Prevent engine from starting.

I hope this helps you.

some cars do have recalls for bad codes being thrown check your dealership and if theres no problem they can block the code so your engine light will not come on for that code

Car would stall out at a light and bucked when it finally started

Mass Air Flow sensor is simple to install, right on top at air box.Shouldn't cost more than $75.00 in labor on ther high side plus the parts. The part is costly. It can cause stalling and other problems. Is it a 3.0 V6? Hope This helps

No mention of the fuel pump. Was this checked? This sounds like a fuel pump problem. Have a technichian check this out when you go in next time I am certain this is your problem.
