Question about 1988 Ford Mustang

1 Answer

I installed a new ignition switch in my 1988 mustang

I installed a new ignition switch on my mustang, and now it wont turn on at all. When you turn the key it doesnt turn over and none of the acessories work. Like the turn signal or any thing that has to do with the ignition being on. I checked all the fuses inside the car and they are fine. It seems like something has shorted out or something is not plugged up. any ideas would be greatly apprecaited

I have a 1988 2wd pickup and the starter won't

starter wont turn or engages the flext plate, flywheel and still wont turn engine over?if this is the case you have a seized up motor, but if it doesnt even click check signal wire from ignition switch for power when you turn the key to crank.if no power your ignition switch,park/neutral safety switch(clutch switch if manual trans) or wrongly installed wired could be the problem.

Installed brand new starter, battery fully charged, and still wont crank. It starts when I kick start it. 1988 nissan pathfinder. What else could be the problem? Relay switch? Or ignition? Please help

Check the ignition switch, and the wiring to the starter solenoid. Get someone to turn the key to the crank (start) position and check for voltage at the starter solinoid. Check the starter relay and all fuses.

Wont start no fire to distributor or coil

Hi
Did you make sure the distributor is turning? Rotor installed? Make sure all the grounds are connected, clean, and tight.
Using your test light, probe the negative side of the coil, should blink when cranking the engine. If not, and the distributor turns, either the pickup is bad, you have a wiring problem, or a PCM problem. Make sure to use quality ignition parts. Many aftermarket ignition modules are not worth the money
Thanks for using Fixya

check the rear of your trunk driver side like if your going to change rear brake light do you have a gas override switch wich starts the gas pump its a restart button you have to remove the panel as if your going to take off tail light on driver side rear its an emergency shut off.

No headlights or turn signals on my 1988 mustang

Check the turn signal dimmer switch. It is under the steering wheel. You will need to take the steering wheel off. See if any wires are loose or damaged going to the turn signal switch. Good Luck!
