Why does my peugeot 407 diesel splutter slightly in low gear but o.k at speed/

not told at all a problem
Reverse dead.
low (PRNDL) dead
Drive dead, or will not upshift at all stuck in 1st gear?
tell all evidences.
check all fuses first
then scan the OBD2 port for DTC errors.
let me guess in EUrope and no obd2 until 2007 diesel.
the TCM needs to be scanned none the less.
or buy the service manual and read how.?
no car like this in USA
so we;'d first learn the real boxes maker and name.
then see if it has shift solenoids.
and if it has 1 to 3 speed sensors on the box.
you said gear box.
but we have 2 kinds, manual box or auto
the manual box on ours. has vss electric sensor
only ABS sends speed data to the PCM.

learn what gear box is here and tell it or answers will be dead wrong or wild guessing. and we have no
Peugeot here.USA. lots of cars In Europe are in fact stick shift manual./

i assume you mean the manual prime pump located on injector pump . well this can be a few things , ck these items, fuel filter , fuel lift pump , fuel stop valve and wiring

Do mean the diesel fuel? Please check the fuel pump for malfunction. You may need to check also the pump relay and power cables. Regards

I am not familiar with the 407 but I would think it is a HDi, if so what you describe is an air leak from a pipe from the pressure side of the turbo, I have had this on a Saab, in that case there was an over pressure switch under the dash and the pipe fell off. Look at the top of the engine, on the inlet side there will be a pipe from the inlet trunking or manifold, it should (maybe with a tee piece in there) go through the bulkhead

most likely..it has air in the system...first check for leaks(fuel leak) even a drop per minute can let air the system

I had a similar problem with my old peugeot 405 diesel, something electrical was shorting and actually sparking in the engine compartment which in my case the garage fixed very easily. Same symptoms, the speedo flickered at low speeds but stopped at higher speed.

in automatic transmission box has two solenoids that were broken , so they must be changed , because I am peugeot specialist in Australia.
