Question about 1995 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

95 Park Ave will start immediately, but stops as fast

My 95 Park Ave will start immediately, but stops as fast with no response (chage in sound or response) with pressing accellerator. It will stay running after several attempts with the accellerator kept down about 1/3 (and what sounds like a click), and operate normally afterwards.
Perhaps a failing fuel pump?

Since the car does start after a few cranks... would the fuel pump still be the likely culprit? I don't know how much electronics are a part of a replacement pump. Thoughts?

Any tips and tricks on replacing the fuel filter and fuel pump?

Thanks for the information. As you suggest this is best left to a tech.

Wish I still had my '66 Mustang... I could work on that.

When trying to figure out what's wrong with an engine that suddenly dies. The first reaction when reading the above is to look at the fuel filter. After that, it could be an electrical component in the ignition somewhere or it could be that the fuel pump is getting weak and fails when it's hot.yes we can say the fuel pump is at the end of its life.replace it.

first thing to be checked and blamed first is fuel filters and then if filters are okay then its confirm fuel pumps fault causing this problem.

you will have to Remove fuel tank for access to fuel pump and its advisable to be done by tech.

    and for replacing filters:
Its located just under passenger side of the car. You need to drain the fuel line.
    then:
    Remove hose clampsRemove mounting bracket
Install new following the fuel flow arrows

3.8 litre park ave seems to crank right up but spits and shuts off immediately. If I continuallypumpthe gas,it seems to 'catch up and rev up vety high. When I stop pumping,it spits and shuts off.

Is the check engine light on while the engine is running ?
If it is I would start there for clues.
If not, the list of possibilities is long.
You should check the fuel pressure and probably the throttle position sensor resistance. It could have a vac leak too.

Where is the tdm located on a 94 3.8 park ave?

I'm pretty sure it is behind the glove box in your model. It was in my 95 LeSabre and still is in a 2000 Park Ave. You can find some good info on this page: http://vatspasskey.com

I have a 1995 Buick Park Ave Ultra. The car has power but will not turn over. I was told by one shop that it might be the V.A.T.S. system and by another that it is the IGNITION CONTROL MODULE.

Make sure the battery cables are clean and tight on the battery. Check to see if the wires to the starter are tight. Try starting it in neutral to make sure the safety switch is being make. Also hold it up into park and try.

Speedo stops, stays in first gear

Sounds like something internal in the trans. It will be an electrical issue, not mechanical. Only way to tell is to hook it to a machine.
