If you want to put a good rebuilt motor in it go to your closest NAPA and ask them about an ATK Rebuilt Motor they have a 3 year unlimited milage warranty on them I have used them at my shop and they are the best for the money that I have found and all my customers have been very happy which makes me happy

Stuck on high idle

Check the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) or the idle position sensor (IPS). They are located near the fuel system.

Poor idle

my truck was doing the same thing, i tried to adjust the idle screw and replace the ignition system but it didnt help. What i did was replace the carb with a webber and the problem was solved. I'm not saying to buy a webber but you might just need to rebuild your carb or something similar
