if you call a salvage yard they have a interchange manual called a hollander book and it will tell you every thing you need to know even if its a close match and just have to change a few items.

you could remove the instrument cluster from the dash and unplug / remove the light, or go the easy way and use a piece of electrical tape and cover it. as far as disabling it I would think the only way would be to reprogram your ECM
