Question about 2003 Jeep Liberty

I had my transmission flushed

And when I got her back she seems to jump when i have the over drive on when the speed goes down to 30 or below but when I take her out of overdrive she doesn't do it ? please help!!!!

I am no Honda expert, but a similar problem happened to my ex sister in-laws Ford Taurus. The speed odometer would jump around and it had trouble shifting (automatic transmission). After driving it I changed out the speed odometer sensor on the transmission and it's been fine ever since. I changed out the sensor because if the cars computer cannot tell how fast the car is traveling then fail safes in place go into effect and the computer will do it's best to keep the cars rpm's down based on the speed indicator and not let it shift or shift properly either. If it's getting false speeds then it will shut down the motor when the speed gets to high and allow it to run as the speeds fall (jumping speed odometer needle). It effects the transmission shift points also. It will either shift erratically or not shift out of say 2nd gear, so that the cars engine can't get damaged based on what signal the speed sensor is sending the computer.

2000 dodge stratus. Heater only works at idle, when driving at high speeds, heater blows cold and thermostat gauge goes to cold. Back flushed heater core, new thermostat any ideas?


I'd say you have a faulty thermostat, be it new or not. If your temperature gauge goes to cold as your engine is taking you down the highway, the thermostat is not doing its job. The temperature should never come down to below normal until engine is shut off...

Hi I have my transmission of mercury mystique 1995 ,it shift from gear 1 to 2 easily and from 2 to 3 easily but when the car speed close to 80 kms/hr it start to shout and the engine speed jump to 4000 RPM...


is your transmission a automatic or standard ? Do you have a check engine light on ? If it is a automatic, was the service you had done a drain and fill or a complete flush, and finally what do you mean it start to shout

Synthetic 80/90 hypoid works great for freezing/cold climate driving. You may notice it is harder to push the transmission into gear. some times the syncros slip more with synthetic oil slowing down the gear speed/mesh action (a slower-harder shift). If you notice this after the oil change, and do not like the synthetic, it is not that expensive to change it back. If you do a lot of driving below 30 degrees or especially below 0 degrees you may want to try synthetic hypoid. it makes driving in cold weather a breeze (no holding in the clutch for five minutes while the motor warms up).

sounds like your transmission filter and fluid need changed if this is an automatic, if its a standard then your clutch may be starting to slip

First thing,

lets start with a transmission flush and filter change. then have you checked any of your vacume lines. A bad vacume line is the number one thing that causes any form of transmission mis shifting. When it gets warmed up the lines alow cracks to open up and mess up the function of the vacume line. Also you need to have the torque converter checked. You also need to have a computer scan on the vehicle. a bad sensor or coputer could cause any of these problems.

When I drive my Mazda 626 (97) in high way, at about 110 KM/Hour speed. Sometime the tachometer will suddenly go up and come down (e.g. go up to 4000 RPM or 5000 RPM from normal say 3000 RPM in one or two...


Does your Mazda have a standard trans (clutch), or automatic.
If it's automatic, the tranny might be slipping, and if it's a standard shift the clutch may be slipping. Does the actual driving speed (not engine rpm's) seem to stay the same when this happens? If you are still traveling at the same speed even though the engine speeds up, it's your tranny or clutch. I don't think the timing belt and tensioner have anything to do with this. countrycurt0
