Question about 2004 Lincoln Aviator
If you are sure that your brake light switch works then it has to be shift lock solenoid (actuator) and is a somewhat common problem on these vehicles. It sound like it hasn't gone out completely yet as you can still shift out of park eventually. However, it will eventually fail and you won't be able to shift out of park at all. Replace this and your vehicle will go back to normal. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Thanks for using FixYa!

Did you recently change your brake fluid? It sounds like there's a stuck air on the shifting gear everytime you do it on park. Better have it check by authorized auto mechanic to isolate the main problem.
